I had my axles replaced at the dealer. I told the mechanic that there are many owners that have had issues with them and he didn't believe me. After the axles were replaced I felt a slight vibration /rumble in the left side (the right axle was the one that went bad). So then they called me and said they are replacing the bearings.Right now it has been in the shop for a few days with me driving a loaner Escape. I like the Escapes more car like driving characteristics, but wondering if the Escapes have the same CV axle issues.
 I have just under 25k on my Maverick. At this point don't know if I am going to keep it or trade it in. I bought an extended warranty to 100k, but what good is an extended warranty if you have to keep taking it into the shop. I mean am I going to have to get the axles replaced every 20-25K miles?
New CV axles every 2nd oil change.

What internally broke on them ?
The ball cage ?
Or were they not inserted fully from the factory ?
End spline stripped?
Yep, it was the end of the spline stripped ... which I'm sure is as much factory defect as it was an improper installation. They said the front right shouldn't have any issues bc it's 2 piece and has some mobility to it. So until they come out with something more robust from the aftermarket I pulled the leveling kit off - so that way it'll continue to be covered under warranty until that's up. Just don't want to run the risk of having to be out of pocket until I can get my hands on something I trust.

The ones im having modded am looking at a chromoly cage that will be polished along with the star end too .
I have seen where some people have not re-inserted the axles to fully clipped position on inboard side and the splines got stripped , would that have been your problem when the lift was installed ?
Pics would be great of the failed section.
I'll have to dig up the pics of it when Ford sent it over. I've got it somewhere. If I remember right it was the outboard splines though. And I trust the shop that did the kit for me. One of the most reputable shops here in Mesa for 4x4 stuff.

The CV failed 1500 miles after the leveling kit install, and I'm 10k miles on the new one with zero issues having taken the kit off. Guessing at some point there will be a standardized aftermarket offering which will definitely fix the issue, just hoping that comes sooner than later.

Keep hearing of upgrades axles out anytime now, new parts numbers etc but haven't seen actual proof anywhere.

If new axles are out, it lines up with the 25 refresh. Will they work with older models???

My money is on no. but they will happily replace them within the 3/36k.... and only if your dealership is a good one...that will claim/say they are bad and needing replacement.
Drivetrain warranty is longer than that. I had both of my cv's replaced by the dealer at 52.000 miles under warranty in July of this year

My 22 hybrid only has 10k miles and I had a pretty good shudder on mild uphill acceleration the other day. I assume it was this issue but only really happened the one time so far?

Perhaps, as someone who likes to address things before they become an issue, I hope it's a recall and not a TSB, as I kind want to swap my axles out before they even have a chance to go bad. I had no idea what it feels like when CVs go back, but based on how it's been described, or sounds terrifying.

I had a Kia Rio where the steering wheel would try to violently move back and forth at highway speeds. It retrospect, maybe that's what CV failure feels like, but I have no idea.
Not really. That was probably alignment or wheel balance.

You would have to ignore noise starting when you accelerate thru a corner.
You would have to then ignore noise starting when you go thru a corner.
You would have to then ignore noise/small vibration starting when you accelerate hard or up a hill.
Then you might finally get to the point where highway speeds on their own cause an effect.

Frankly if you are ignoring that much stuff prior to the highway speeds - you are probably ignoring a bunch of other stuff that is about to break on you anyway.

I've known a few folks that do indeed ignore things like that, it's usually some other system that breaks much sooner that causes a torn CV boot to be discovered, long before the joint would have broken on it's own.
Like they ignored the grinding on the brakes until the pad was gone, the back plate slipped out, and they leaked fluid from piston that popped out. Then the bad tear in the CV boot was seen and they admitted to noise during turns.

I recently cleared 35k miles with my '22 FE and I think I've started feeling a bit of vibration when accelerating (not off the line), so I'll be monitoring closely. I am rolling with the factory tires and they're still in excellent shape and properly rotated, so I'm crossing my fingers that maybe I just need an alignment.

It seems to me that more people that have Lowered or Lifted their truck are the ones having the majority of CV Axle problems.

I'm very much a "Where's that rattle coming from?" kind of car owner. Following experiences with my first job working at an oil change place and seeing all the insane ways people neglected their cars pushed me in the other direction. I agree, a lot of owners just ignore and ignore until things become extreme.

With the Kia, we aligned the tires fairly often, amongst other things. So I really have no idea what was causing that if it wasn't some sort of suspension/CV axle issues. That car was a basket case to put it lightly, constant issues that mechanics couldn't find the source of.

My 2022 Mav xlt hybrid is vibrating especially hard going uphill. Also in eco mode is much worse than sport. 33k miles. I’m wondering if it’s the axles and since I purchased used from a dealership without any extended coverage if I’m screwed.. I’d be happy if I got it fixed for nothing but my time and rental, but super upset if it’s high dollar parts and I have to do it myself.

Screw it!
*Slams hand down on desk, does a line a cocaine*
Super duty axles for everyone!
Go Peterbilt or go home! :)

Watching the axle issue carefully. No issues, but my Maverick is very young, only about 4700 miles so far. Good to know about the issue, and I certainly hope that there's an improved version coming out soon. Or they could just give everyone what they've already got - Tremor axles
