Still waiting for my “updated” cv axle to arrive. They confirmed it’s a new part but unfortunately they are only replacing the one that failed. It won’t be long before I have to do this all over again for the other side, and I’ll be over 60k by then. They are hoping to have it before December and in the meantime they guaranteed it’s safe to drive. I have my doubts it is. This is my first ford, not a great first impression. Might be going back to Toyota sooner rather than later.

LOL. I just love when people buy the cheapest product a company offers, then bases all company credibility on that entry level product. Classic.

lol it might be their cheapest vehicle but for something you pay 23k for you would think they could make a cv axle that lasts. My 16k Corolla I bought in 2014 has 195,000 miles and still on the original cv axles. In fact nothing has ever failed on that vehicle. LOL. Classic

I think that people would expect, on average, important parts of the drive train to at least outlast the warranty. I realize that the Maverick is much less expensive than even the Ranger, but it's not what I'd call cheap.

Its a CV axle.
Pretty basic part.

Cheap / affordable product especially for a car should NOT equate to poor quality.
Lack of features should.

Small fortune to some people, such as me.

I just got a message from my dealer that the CV axles came in and are installed already. I'll probably pick up the truck tomorrow. Hopefully they are the new improved ones.

After ordering how long did they take to arrive at the dealership?

See if you can get part numbers. Someone familiar ought to be able to cross-reference them with the current ones.

Following this thread for a few days, I'm left with a question: Are the cv axles on hybrids failing at a low milage on all hybrids or just a portion of them? Is there illuminating data?

Just some. It's worth noting that even if the failure rate on the CV axles was half a percent, and the other 99.5% of maverick owners never had an issue, it would still be over 1,500 people experiencing and talking about said issue.

I don't believe there's ever been a component in any car that has a 100% failure rate, and even instances where the majority of owners experienced failures, even that is extremely rare.

I'll make sure to ask for an invoice which they should give anyways. Hopefully it has the part number on it.

That stinks. Dealers shop foreman drove the truck and said it’s still safe to drive. Doesn’t feel safe but if anything happens now it’s on them. I’m only 1 week in, if I have to go 3 more weeks I’ll be surprised if the tires don’t shoot off while driving.
