CSX Train Derails in Kentucky With Ford Mavericks Among Cargo 😟

There is the red maverick and the rail car number clearly visible.

At least they are not burning, scratch & dent sale or lots of good usable parts. I feel for someone who has been waiting for so long.

Too bad you probably cannot file an insurance claim on the truck "you already purchased" to get the replacement value (what they're selling for used or with dealership mark-up) & buy a replacement.

Well I don't know about 21?.
The videos available only show 9 cars. Five are off, but upright (includes the GM crap (i mean scrap)) car and four that are definitely on their sides. Which one does contain a Red Mav.

Depending on which type of Autorack rail car, it's from 10-26 according to UP.

Well from the Ohio incident, Ten (10) MAVs will fit into a 89 foot Autorack.

My Maverick just shipped today, all of these train derailments in the news have made me very worried. This post is only exacerbating those fears. I'm so worried something is gonna happen. These train companies are slipping up so bad now.

Well first thing Id say is there hasn't been that many more derailments than in the past due to the toxic screw up in East Palestine they are getting far more attention in the media. In this case not much the conductor can do if a Semi driver is an idiot and gets stuck on the tracks.

Second - how sad it is to know how long folks have been waiting to find their truck was totaled in route to delivery. Has anyone found out if Ford does anything like this such as expedite a replacement ? Seems fair but with the clown show that is Ford allocation and build system all bets are off ......

Absolutely, the conductor is in no way at fault in this case.

But for real, that's my worst fear for this. I haven't been waiting anywhere near as long as some of the other users here. I got my email notifying me of shipment about 26 minutes ago, then saw this post 5 minutes after that. So I'm gonna be an anxiety fueled mess for the next couple of weeks until delivery.

I wouldn't worry about this at all. Train accidents are down something like 40% since 2000. We are just hearing about every incident now because it's shortly after a major disaster. I doubt there are statistics, but I wouldn't be surprised if the rate of cargo lost is higher on trucks vs trains. Traffic accidents are extremely common after all.

Completely understand that - 99.9% of Mavericks have been successfully unloaded from train transport - more likely someone at the dealership screws it up hahaha - deep breaths - hopefully soon you will be behind the wheel !!

These Mavericks may have very light damage. I am fascinated with what will happen to them. I sure hope they do not go straight to a crusher. What a terrible waste that would be.
