Questioning under the hood observation.
My new Maverick might be missing an over the top engine cover. Not sure if any Maverick comes with them. What I see is the very top of the engine, and what appears as brass nut inserts (see picture, highlights) in the plastic engine cover on the head, where a possible cover could be mounted, bolted down to these brass inserts.

So do any of you have a deco cover over the engine? I read elsewhere of a owner finding a cover on EBay.

Of course I kinda like to see the top of the “engine”, not a cover per se.

Comment appreciated.

Yeah people buy covers off eBay for Lincoln's and escapes and such. Mavericks don't come with them. I don't see a need myself. Some people say it makes the motor quieter, I can barely hear it anyways.

Covers annoy the crap out of me. Seems like something someone invented to convince people to pay more for a car since it looks nice. Really it's just one more thing in your way when trying to fix/trouble shoot or for your local garage tech to mess up / forget.

I literally have two cars with the same engine. One with cover one without. Every time I have to remove the cover from the one I ask myself "why do I put this thing back on?" ... Then I put it back on 🤦‍♂️ because I don't want to throw more plastic out. Maybe should sell it on e-bay.

Just checked mine, no cover. Brass nut inserts are present as well. Seems odd that they would bother with the brass nuts if there was never any intention of offering a cover for it. Another missed sales opportunity for Ford parts!

Well, looks like the Maverick model not has cover. Answers my query. No concerns now.
I keep on trucking…..

Thanks, fellow Maverick owners!

Extra expense, extra work for any work. Sure makes it look "cleaner" underneath but it's a TRUCK!...

One of the most worthless gadgets to be added to newer vehicles!
Rodents, dirt, dust and spilled motor oil love collecting under these covers. There was a time when a DOHC engine was a pleasure to see.
Today, a hood under the hood , are all the rage.🤪

You weren’t aware of this? How much research did you do before buying a maverick? 😆
Let's not get snarky. If you can't say anything nice...

Very little. Not embarrassed too.
Tight market, hard to find em. Found this one on dealer website, says it’s in transit. When called when ETA, salesman says might be in? Yet it was. That on Friday, got it Saturday. It’s what I wanted, traded my trusty 2011 F250 91,xxx mikes diesel.

I test drove a XLT Tremer truck, did check sites on Maverick reliability, endurance, and owner’s satisfaction. My research led me to go with XLT, 2.0, 8 spd tranny, 4K tow capacity, and Area 51 color. I was not keen to get the 4wd, but finding anything of 2WD problematic, so just bit bullet got AWD, or nothing at all.

I didn’t pop hood at dealer, but did once at home.

AND I feel I did do lots research. At least i test drove two of them of different flavors.

I didn’t pop the hood on the F250 diesel when I got it 12 yrs ago. When I got home, I did. It was my OMG moment, ….”what’s all this crap under here?” Yet it held together 12 years, towing a fifth wheel all over the USA.
in my youth, being a mechanic to fund my college days, I usually pop hood, and say “Yep, I can fix this thing”.

Snarky saying…These days as a senior, I ain’t touching whatever under the hood!

For those of us with OCD, the Mav engine bay is no bueno.

So, I had to do it, or I couldn't open the hood. 🤪

They just stopped making and providing the cover. It would cost a lot more to change the design and production of the valve cover than it would to just stop making and providing the engine cover. Most vehicles with the 2.0 ecoboost used to come with the same cover from the factory.
