That's not competition for the Maverick. Toyota is cooking up something else to compete with the Maverick.

I have a feeling it will be tuned for performanceI’ll be interested in the hybrid, if it gets 30mpg like the crown, it will make things interesting!
You speak the truth. Common list of complaints I've seen with Tacoma's, especially newer ones, the interior is cramped/outdated and cheap feeling. The seating position apparently sucks. The driving dynamics are trash, so is the ride, and the fuel economy is terrible. The 4 cyl is gutless, and the 3.5 v6 is also pretty gutless, and has a fair amount of reliability issues. The electronics also apparently have issues. Severed frame rust getting so bad that it totals out the truck is also apparently an issue in certain years.I had a ‘21 Taco and the the Mav is superior in every way except for towing. The reveal photo looks like a ranger.
Our fuel pump system went out at 1200 miles. Interior fell apart, roof rack area trim never stayed on the truck and would come off on the highway and whack the truck and leave marks (Toyota could never permanently fix this problem till we sold it fyi), paint was severely orange peeled on wheel wells and clear coat looked awful when when new (always seemed dull and thin), rear power window to bed died three times, stereo didn’t have android auto or apple car play despite the cost of the truck, yes the seating positing has your legs parallel to the road it’s awful, and yes our v6 felt outdated and the tranny never stopped hunting for gears even when we just wanted a constant speed. I’d get 18-19mpg if I had wind behind me. But resale was amazing…I’ll give it that. You speak the truth. Just goes to show that sometimes, perception trumps reality. It seems most people who buy Tacomas buy them because of what they're perceived to be, not what they actually are. Tacomas are up there with Honda civics in terms of being some of the most hit/miss cars out there.
I've known a few people who've loved their Tacomas, I've also known several people who buy brand new Tacomas, and almost immediately have issues within a few weeks of ownership. Just like everyone says how great civics are, but I know multiple people where their least reliable car was a civic. My friend have civic issues within 30 minutes of taking ownership.
On that episode Jerry was dating was Terri Hatcher. He questioned whether her breasts were natural or implants. Elaine went to the same gym and, while in the sauna, accidentally slipped and grabbed Terri’s boobs. Anyway, at the end of the show Terri says “They’re real, and they’re spectacular“.The Seinfeld reference is sublime, regardless. Who was that, one of the Housewives or something, right?
To each his own opinion, but I love the cleanness and simplicity of design of the Maverick. I even like the steel wheels of the XL. Although I took what I could get several months ago (XLT with bells and whistles, safety features, and markup), the hybrid Mav XL with safety package is a hell of a truck which is also the right size and price (without markups).I'm not entirely convinced that a significantly larger and nearly double the price truck is competition for the Maverick. It's a wholly different vehicle. Sure, if I was bathing in cash I'd buy one, but I didn't even consider a Taco as a reasonable option.
