IIRC Escape hybrids also have this issue. I wonder why it effects some but not all, or if we are all due to lose it at some point. My clutch dampener rattles in the morning in cold mornings. I've heard that it's "common" but that makes me think there is some sort of design issue.

Glad I got the 100k warranty from Granger!
I am thinking to buy an extended warranty from FORD before my number to bumper is up.

That's good progress. At least they've identified the problem and are moving towards a fix.
Got a call that parts are in. The MAV goes for surgery on Dec 11. Praying for the best.

I am thinking to buy an extended warranty from FORD before my number to bumper is up.
For me it worked out to $11/month for 10 years of coverage which is refundable and transferable. Seemed like a no brainer.

I just bought an extended warranty from Granger as well. I like my maverick and will enjoy knowing I can drive it stress free now for 7 more years.

I just bought an extended warranty from Granger as well. I like my maverick and will enjoy knowing I can drive it stress free now for 7 more years.
That's why I did it. No stress.

Our vehicle is having the same issue at 41k miles. Power loss on the highway, limp to dealer, damper clutch and flywheel replaced.

One week/250 miles later, CEL and Service Engine warning come up, limp to dealer, now getting new engine.

Wow that's not good. I hope it all works out. What was wrong with the engine?? Knowing what I know now an extended warranty is essential for these Mexican made vehicles.

Potential bearing recall issue?

They could never nail down exactly what VIN's got the bad batch of bearings during a production run.
So they have PCM update that watched for signs of a rod about to get thrown - or as close as they could get.
If confirmed - new engine.

This is the recall that started with mitigating the effects of a thrown rod - hole in undercover shield to allow fuel to come out, removed a few shutter vanes so there is always some air flow into engine bay.
Try to reduce chances of fire.

Its all very odd. The engine idles fine, doesn't knock or overheat, and I change the oil at home every 5k miles. Nothing sparkly has ever shown up in the drain pan.

The dealer has been very responsive to address issues and supply a loaner car.

Ok good to know. My dealer and Ford have been good so far as well and they are actively trying to fix things so I am happy thus far. Will report after I get truck back.
