Hybrid xlt with copilot with drop in bed liner which i bought early this week. With only 200 miles..

Yesterday it was raining and i was cruising on the highway at relatively low speed for 1h..

Reached my destination and stayed there for 2h

On the way back ( thats about 5 min on the highway) i noticed the check engine light was on. Can't tell when the check engine light turned on.. was it before or after i reached destination.. can't tell.

So i took the exit highway about 15 min after i noticed the check engine light.. stopped at the gas station . My tank was at 75% at that time. So while i was there i added some fuel to 92% then i parked.

The check engine light was still on even though i turned the engine off to add some fuel.

So i opened the hood,(engine off)

I stood there look at the engine.. im not a mechanic guy but im not a rookie either.

I noticed the coolant overflow tank (the bigger one was empty). The other smaller coolant overflow tank had some coolant but far from min level.

I couldn't find the catalytic as it was hidden behind tons of stuff and shielded.

Since mine has a hard drop in liner i doubt my fuel tank is pierced.. unless they decide use repaired pierce tanks to maximize the profit.. that would not surprise me.

So i stood there clueless for a solid 10 min looking at any leak or loose parts (visually) but it was too hot to put my hand in there. Didn't see any leak either.

I closed the hood a bit anxious and sad maybe.

Went back inside and turned the engine on.. the check engine light was gone

I took my phone trying to find out what this was all about., i actually checked this forum

With no specific code.. so i can't tell what error code number that was.. can't pull the number as i lost my obd reader..

I did not use the vehicle since yesterday.

Tomorrow i might bring it to some random Ford dealer because the one i bought it from is further away.
Hopefully the random ford dealer won't charge me anything.

Im kinda nervous now.

I don't want to bash ford, but on my toyota i never experienced a check engine before 75k miles, on a subaru i don't think i ever got one in the first 5 years, on a jeep i only got 2 and it was my fault.

But check engine after 200 miles? Must be bad random luck or something.

Hopefully just random bad luck or an easy fix. Guess this is what we signed up for with a first year model. I'm expecting something to happen to mine too and I only have 300 miles

Don’t guess. Dealership to the rescue! Take it in and have them read the code(s), that way you can not worry and sleep better.

I had some coolant smells in the cab after some driving in the hills: this was still in the 'break-in' period. Took it in to the dealer and they took a close look, didn't find anything.

2K more miles, and it hasn't happened since!

Hopefully, it's a break-in glitch, and all is good!

I had the check engine light happen to me with the exception I had only driven it 68 miles and had it 24 hours. The dreaded yellow check engine popped up on the dash and stayed even with turning off the engine and restarting. Off to the dealership it went.

Malfunction Indicator Lamp - Regulatory
Description: The Engine Control System has detected a concern with the electronic throttle control (ETC) throttle position (TP) sensor. The PCM will invoke a symptom of limited power. The Engine Start/Stop feature (if equipped) may be disabled when this fault is present.

The dealership had the Maverick Hybrid XLT for about three days, replaced the sensor, tested it and I picked it up. Not had a problem since. The odometer has 451 miles with 383 miles since the sensor was replaced.

Hope your repair is quick and an easy problem to solve.

Your coolant overflow tank being empty is not a good sign, the coolant went somewhere. Perhaps verify that you have coolant in the system before driving it.

update… i will update this until resolved to help other getting this issue.

i brought the hybrid back to the dealer..

they decided to keep it to replace a part related to the coolant reservoir (overflow)

there was a leak somewhere in that area.

they said the coolant was still circulating but leaking. That nothing was damaged They didn't want me to leave with the vehicle with a topped coolant.. they were afraid to worsen the problem.
the part will arrive tomorrow so they brought me home instead.

they said tomorrow or after tomorrow should be ready.

the new part requires to remove the manifold and they said they never did this on the maverick. ..
