I ordered a barebones 2023 Maverick XL. I assumed that would give me the best odds of getting it built. Now that I have researched more, it sounds like the XLT is better odds. Is that true? Would changing my order to an XLT improve chances of getting to production sooner?

Unless you need all the extra do dads on the xlt i would keep the xl.if the xl had cruise last year it would be sitting in my drive way today instead of the xlt.no,I don’t think it makes alot of difference which one you order to get it any sooner.

You can’t change trim level or power plant.

You can always ask your dealer but once the order banks closed, you can no officially longer change between trim (XL, XLT, Lariat) and powertrain (Hybrid, EB FWD, EB AWD). Even if you could, it would basically count as a new order, losing your place in line. That's why it's not allowed - no new orders.

I don't believe you can change PEP codes after the order bank closed. So it kinda doesn't matter. :)
According to Tim the guy who makes videos, he was able to change trims for a customer.

Based on the chart, looks like EB XLT has the best shot. But like others mentioned, not sure you can change from XL to XLT since the order banks closed. Check with Tim the fordvideoguy for a positive answer

Except on polling those XL/XLT percentages are pretty close to actual order rates so it doesn't look like Ford was planning on intentionally sandbagging XL production, they were just estimating correctly.

I have an unscheduled XL 2022 order (originally) being converted to a XL 2023 order. After placing the XL 2023 "new" order (and receiving confirmation from FoMoCo), I decided I would like to change it to a XLT. I contacted the dealer and requested the change (after the order bank was already closed). The dealer (sales manager) was able to enter the change (and emailed me "screen shot" proof of the change shown on the FoMoCo order system). I did get a new D.O.R.A. from the dealer, no change in original priority (#10). Same order number. I did not get a new confirmation email from FoMoCo.

You are able to change the Trim code as long as the dealer has a competent and willing individual to process the change.

No changes to power train. Locked out.

That was sort of my logic when I entered a second order for an ECO XLT Lux after realizing that the preorder I had set up in July for a Hybrid XL was unlikely to be filled. Time will tell if that was right or not.

Please post to let us know if your dealer was able to make the change.

You also need to understand that you really do not get a lot for your money with an XLT other than better wheels which may not be important to you. I ended up ordering the XLT Luxury package since that was the only way to get the better power seats.

Here is what you get with the XLT

And the luxury package.

So now the Luxury package has a vinyl wrapped steering wheel rather than a leather wrapped one?

That's correct. No more leather wrapped wheels on any trim for 2023.
