Does the Ford app also allow you to lock/unlock the truck from your phone? You might not need the keypad.
What if your phone is dead?

Thank you!
When you buy a car from the lot, you have to take what is there and will buy some options you will never use. Here we have the unique opportunity to pick and choose what we need. As mentioned earlier, the XL trim offers an incredible value and I think most people will have all essential options with this trim. I am already looking for aftermarket wheel options and hope to find something nice to match the truck.
My dealer has several sets of new takeoff wheels/tires from new Bronco Sports they have been selling with their”Adventure package” that includes aftermarket wheels and AT tires. Check dealers or eBay for factory takeoffs if you like the OEMs

I actually did the reverse....I changed my order from XL to XLT.
Must haves for me are the Wheels, Cruise Control, and Power Mirrors, also the rear seat cup holder fold down when taking the kids on a trip
However, i did consider installing the options missed if I stayed with the XL....but ultimately I felt that the price difference was not worth it, let alone the aggravation of getting the work done.
I did the same. I cant live without cruise, I tried to go a few days on my commute to work in my current ride without using it and said this sucks. I like to relax my feet some when I drive. Yea you can add cruise aftermarket but thats a pain in the arse and who knows if it will be possible or integrate with fords electronics/wiring properly. The steel wheels are ugly too and Id be paying prob $1k to upgrade. In the end the $2300 difference was worth it , considering the price is about $23k total for XL where I live and $25500 for XLT , its a no brainer. When you are spending that much whats a few grand more. Now if it got to $27-29 closer to $30k range then Id have an issue, this is an economical vehicle and I think the full on Lariat trims etc dont make a lot of sense.

Yea I kinda saw the same Math. By the time I add the 360 package to the XL for the power mirrors (I like to swing the mirrors slightly out when I have someone behind me with his high beams on), budgeted for the wheels, the difference in price was only $500 and I still end up without cruise control (probably another $500 aftermarket?). Just seemed like a lot of work for a base model that did not save me much.

Maybe if I was really frugal and tried to shop around for a set of pull off wheels from a dealership and tried to DIY the cruise control I could save maybe $500-$800. But time is money too and I would have to spend a lot of time trying to setup deals.

To each their own. I'm spending roughly $31,000 on a hybrid lariat lux. But I'm trading in a 2019 F150 XL STX. I am going to have a lower payment and have much higher end options on my vehicle. I'm looking for comfort and convenience in addition to functionality at this point in life. I'm not looking for the cheapest configuration possible. I want the bells and whistles. So $31,000 is still actually a great value for all I'm getting.

I went from the XLT to the Lariat for the same reasons. I projected what it would be like living with it day in and day out. That high end stereo and the non-cloth seats are really appealing to me.

It's all relative.

Everyone should do their own cost-benefit-analysis.

I went with fully loaded Lariat build, at around $38K, that was me being super frugal with my cash flow. I had already saved and anticipated on spending around $45-50K for my next long term vehicle. This vehicle needed to balance features, price, capability and size, of which, saved me $7-12K vs. the other options I was considering. Coming in with a trade and a healthy down payment, I'd be looking at financing for 36 months at 0% at the most. Drive it for 10-15 years, continue to pay myself, and do it all over again.

I actually changed from XL to XLT, but the main reason for it was cruise control (but also I was a big fan of the tires, too). I was going to just go with a base XL and not do anything else, just reap the benefits of a cheap hybrid truck.

The more I sat on it I realized that I travel relatively often and am generally on long stretches of road and use cruise control a TON. Granted I don't use it in the city, it makes those 3-12 hour trips so much easier.

I'm with you on the "business" of the cab in the XLT, but I'm just going to take all the orange accents off and paint them the same color as the trim.

What if your phone is dead?
Then you wait to charge your phone, or your significant other has a working phone with Ford's app. :)

Also, heaven forbid you leave the phone locked INSIDE the Maverick. Now key & phone are locked inside. XL doesn't have a keypad.

For me, key fob is key (pun intended). I tend to leave my phone inside the car when making quick stops. So I got the XLT + Lux. We'll see.

I should have said "make a lot of sense for me". Im not rich nor can I afford a big payment but I think you are smart downsixing from an f150 gas hog for sure:)

Is there a list somewhere with each trim level's features. The old paper brochures would have a page and list the features and indicate whether or not it was on that trim level. Looking for a one-stop listing of at least the base features.

I am with you and the others who went with the XLT. Even now, I am not 100% sure about my decision to go with XL. But I have to tell you, the reason I went to XL is not only because it is cheaper. It is also because with XL there are few features I prefer over the XLT. I really love the simple and clean interior of the XL. The interior of the XLT is way too busy and I hate all the orange accents. I also love the black grill bar of the XL. At the end it became to compare all the features and make a decision. So with XL I get many boxes checked and I can upgrade for the things which I wont get. I already checked. I can get some really nice looking wheels for 500-700 dollars and I am sure in 2 or 3 month, when I get my car, there will be tons of take down bronco sport wheels I can get for a good price.

At the end of the day, this is all fun for me. I love playing around with my cars and ordering cars and see this as a small "adventure".

Valid points for sure. I feel like the XL fits the definition of a barebones vehicle you can customize to your liking really well. I almost feel like they should have made removable inserts on the dash you could take out and make your own to customize color/feel to your liking.

As an aside, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think all of the orange accents in the XLT are removable except for the vents and stitching. I don't mind a little orange accents (orange actually goes great with blues) but they did go a little overboard.

That is correct, but you need to find replacement for them. If you remove the orange parts in the center console, there is nothing underneath and it looks pretty cheap. One other thing you can't remove are the orange stitching of the seats.
