just throwing this out there ... could it have been a bad molding to start with that you just recently noticed?

Or is it maybe caused by an aftermarket bulb? Some of them run very hot unless they are LED's.
Looks strange that it right on top of the bulb.

It could be an original defect, but the way it sits right above both bulbs makes me think the heat from them is melting the plastic.

OEM bulbs, nothing aftermarket, and I don't make a habit of manually kicking the cargo lights on with the button in the cabin very often.

Does not look at OEM Maverick lamp.

I missed that it's both sides. That's interesting.

Yes, compared to my pictures it looks melted.
Turns out it's a common and known problem. Caused by the heat of the bulbs.
Covered on several other sites since at least 2023.

I changed my bed lights out to LEDs 2 years ago.

Pictured below👇 are the OEM bulbs/lamps I took out.
Because LEDs have to be placed in the socket a certain direction. I replaced one side. Then I checked to make sure that the led illuminated before replacing the other side. I had to wait for the OEM bulb to cool down before I pulled it out.

Huh? It looks exactly like an OEM Maverick lamp. 🤷‍♂️

Went and checked my 2023, and it is at least that bad, if not worse. I also don't make a habit of having those lights on every long, or at least so I thought. I'm also on the original OEM bulbs... which look just like those.

As I have said before, the worst part about these trucks is that they are Fords.

I see that on one of mine on my '24. I assume the Florida sun has caused it.

I don't think it is sun damage.
My Maverick sat outside the first summer I owned it in the 110°-117° desert sun. My current picture show no damage. I did change to LED'S in 2024.

I've seen this happen to a few people, but have yet to see a cause. It's probably worth swapping to led bulbs as they do run cooler, they also look better IMO

Yes, when I checked found similar, only on the driver's side:
Ford Maverick Cargo light internal housing is melting/cracking 20oirn29

Took a while to understand what was meant by 'cargo light' that comes with all trims, but eventually realized you're referring to the lights activated by the jellyfish launcher.

Mine haven't seen especially hard use or adverse conditions. I try to conserve my invertebrates to extend battery life.

edit: no hard use
