Since switching to that mode does cause action anyway, it's not possible to go there and have it start when it rains, have you noticed picking a low frequency and when rain or speed increases it speeds up?
It hasn't rained here for awhile and I haven't had a chance to experiment with any setting other than the regular intermittent settings. I noticed today that the stalk has 1-3 bar settings for the intermittent modes. No surprise there, but I discovered the top setting has a row of raindrop icons which might indicate that is the auto wiper feature.

Auto seemed to change the speed of the wipers based on the speed of the vehicle.
Well, that sounds like what an auto wiper system should be doing. I'm thinking the Maverick, (at least the Lariat) does have that capability. It's a nice feature. We have it on the Hyundai Palisade and I've come to appreciate it. Just make sure to turn it off when visiting the car wash.

in any case it's always a good idea to place a towel, cardboard, etc. under the wiper being changed so an accidental slip won't crack the windshield
Great tip that could save folks a bunch of trouble and money. Thanks for posting such an easy preventative.

My 22 Lariat does not have the auto wiper system. I also checked the manual for the 2025 Maverick and none of the trims have the auto wiper system.

We live in michigan, like to leave the wipers "up" when it snows so they don't get iced in.apparently you can't do this with the maverick, but the area they park in is heated at least. Also don't try and lift them up with the hood down since you will scratch the paint on the edge of the hood!
Starting with the '24 model year, Mavericks no longer have the heated wiper park. Don't try to lift the wipers with the hood up either. Need to use the service position with the hood down.

My theory is that the wiper recess was designed primarily as a leaf collection device. Mine sure filled up every day throughout the fall.
I have the same issue. You also need to clean out behind the front wheel wells. I use an air gun with extended nozzle to get in there when the front doors are open. If anyone has a good way to keep leaves and snow out of that space behind the hood please enlighten all of us poor souls without a garage.

No, it means "more rain". The Mav doesn't have any "auto wiper" anything.

Well - no.
Indicating move switch to here when more rain drops compared to bottom setting with less rain drops.

You do have 1 drop at the bottom selection, right?

No. Intermittent settings are indicated with β€” marks progressing to 3 such marks. Top setting has a series raindrop icons.
UPDATE: Steering wheel blocked my vision of the lower part of the wiper stalk, and thanks to @Glen Baker LLC who posted a clearer image, you are correct. Apologies for posting an inaccurate assumption.

Oops. You’re right. When I looked the first time, the steering wheel blocked the lower graphic, so yeah looks like no auto rain detection just intermittent.
Thanks for the clarification.
