You think Toyota’s have a too much plastics feel? The Maverick won’t be any better. Sorry to tell ya. It’s one of the cheapest plastics I have owned in a vehicle.
Oh god, it will be worse. The Maverick interior is cheap. It's a noticeable step down in terms of quality from our Seltos, which itself has a lot in common in terms of hard touch plastics and stuff.

Definitely don't buy a Maverick if you're concerned any other car has a cheap plastic interior.

I don’t for one second believe the OP is a serious buyer of any vehicle. Either a troll or a kid (probably both). Proof:

no i can not buy the maverick and sell it right after to make a profit.

the salesman asked me not to do that because apparently Ford Head quarter don't like that..
he said he trusted me not to do that, it may hurts his name.
No sane adult buyer would think “I have to do whatever my salesman says or I will hurt his feelings.” Nor would he constantly reference Grand Theft Auto like it was some realistic portrayal of city life.

Besides, there are so many arguments that don’t hold a lick of water:
  1. He can afford a vehicle that costs 6k more, but can’t afford the additional fuel costs that a hybrid has over an EV?
  2. He doesn’t like a plasticky interior, so he’s going with an inexpensive Hyundai?
  3. He needs to be able to do some “light off-roading,” so he decided on a hatchback over a pickup truck?
  4. He’s afraid that a Maverick will get stolen, so he wants to buy a more expensive EV?
I don’t like to malign people on the internet, so if you’re a legit buyer than I’m sorry for assuming the worst. In that case, get what you want! But my, oh my, do you either lack some general wisdom or have a crippling problem with confirmation bias…

dude, this is the kind of post that really doesn't contribute to the subjet.. you obviously don't know much about cars ..no offense bro.

instead of trying to analyze posters on a forum, which usually leads to trolling, why don't you try to bring some arguments on the subjet.

I don't know how you got the idea i want an hatchback for offroading. You obviously missed the point.
i only stated my concerns about the kona not capable of light offroading….and trying to highlight my priorities through people point of view.. alots of posters did help me out in their comment.. you did not.

im pretty sure im probably older than you by the way…But even if you're younger than me, that is something i absolutely don,t give a dam as long you contribute to the subjet positively… being intelligent has nothing to do with age.

while im here,,,..the Kona EV got sold last night… so i can no longer buy it..

so we can pretty much close the subjet. I doubt i can find a better vehicle before the dealer receive the maverick (in 4 weeks).

some may have forgot something very obvious.
I did not order the maverick randomly.. and i didn,t order it last week either. I,ve been following the project long before they started accepting orders. Why would i order something i don't like? Im only trying to spend my money the best i can.. and this has nothing to do with the maverick.

if i choose not to buy the maverick, it doesn't mean the maverick is a bad vehicle.

If I’ve offended you, then I’m sorry. I just have a hard time understanding your logic. If you want honest input:
1. Once you own a vehicle, you own it. Nothing you do will malign your salesman. My salesman told me straight up “if you don’t decide to get this truck, I’ll put it out on the lot with a 5k markup and sell it that day. If I were you, I’d get the truck and sell it at a profit if you didn’t like it.” Your salesman sounds like he wants to do exactly that but he’s feeding you a line of bull so he’ll get the profit.
2. Hyundais are nice, but the lower-end vehicles are still very plasticky. My experience is that they also drive a little funny - I’ve had one myself and driven plenty and they all have this “slightly-off” feeling to the steering. I’ve found the same with very Nissan I’ve driven, too.
3. The cost of repairs should anything happen to your hybrid vs an EV will probably offset every dime you’d save on the EV. Battery packs are expensive, and they will eventually die at some point (largely depending on the environment you drive and how much you drive). But the significantly smaller pack for a hybrid will be much, much cheaper than one for a full EV.
4. Since the Kona’s no longer an issue, I’d stick with the Maverick and see what you think. If you hate it - fine, sell it. You don’t have to wait months to do it. I mean, if you sell a vehicle at markup with less than a couple thousand miles on it, people will know what you’re doing, but with buyers out looking for these things, you could list it for what you paid or for 500 more and I’d bet a forum member here would take it off your hands faster than you can say “test drive.”

Why buy a used EV is this market? Order a Kona or Ioniq 5 with federal rebates and drive the Maverick in the meantime. If the truck gets stolen you’ve made an easy $5-10k in profit.
The Ioniq offers 18min charge full charge or 5min 70mile charge.
Side note though, if theft is as bad as you say, what makes you believe they’re not stealing your charging wire or a regular basis?

You're kidding right? Cancel your order? My man, buy it and flip it to make a quick profit. It'll take you no time to sell it yourself, and why would you "feel bad?" Your still giving the dealership their money. Blame Ford for making bad decisions like outsourcing vital components.

Theft?!

Never had anyone steal my car/truck, or anything in it. I've lived in both "unsafe" Big City with streetside parking & gunshots fired @ night, and "safe" Big Country with druggies & shotguns. Never had anything stolen. Some douchebag did puncture my tires for parking in front of their home. But theft?!

So I'm seeing how the Mav would attract thieves while an EV doesn't.

Yes before I picked our Maverick up I considered a Quarter Horse., I figured I'd get ten miles per bale of hay and I could use the manure in the garden and save money on groceries but it was a present so I got it for her, but one never knows which decision was best i guess. I'll ponder this forever now, in fact I'm pondering it right now:)
