Interesting, I just took my wife's Forrester for a quote on detailing. Her plastic is starting to fade. The detailer recommended this product.
I've never used it to restore, but I cannot see why it wouldn't work all the same as long as you prep it well and let the plastics fully dry.

There is also Black Magic which helps bring back factory plastics that I have used and have had success with.

The difference between the 2 is that Cerakote is permanent and bonds to your plastics there is no getting rid of it.

Black Magic does not bond and will wear out returning your plastics to a gray/faded state.

This detailer charges that product at 80 bucks an hour. Thinks it will take an hour for the Forrester. Says it needs to dry for a day before pickup. Very clean air conditioned shop. Had a C8 in there he was ceramic coating. He also said it's good for 300 washes but he includes rain in that.

This happens to every car that has black plastic bumpers/trim. It's annoying.

Also, fwiw, about every other car wash, which I do by hand, I'm applying 303 to exterior black, and interior plastic. Lots easier to apply and deal with then the cerakote, which as I said is a bit of a chore.
I agree. I solely use 303 as it is easy to apply and does a great job. 303 Marine Aerospace Protectant to be more precise

To protect it I just use Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions spray on Ceramic wax. Can be applied anywhere. I just apply it about twice a year.

Well I now have a shelf full of 303, Turtle Wax, Cerakote, clay bars, etc. Just waiting for it to cool off long enough to wash my truck and apply one of these products on the truck and another on the black plastic 🥵

Question- are any of the products amazing enough to remove/eliminate the black rubber “bleeding” around the windows on my ‘02 F250 that sits in the FL sun? After I wash it black runs down the windows and white sides not to mention how black the sponge and my hands get😖

I used Turtle Vax Ceramic coating and also 303 after a wash on the bumper. I haven't noticed fading in six month:

After 10 months and 6500 miles, parked mostly outside in Texas sun. Yes my black trim was fading. So I sprung for ceramic detailing (Next Level Ceramic in Lakeway, Tx) So far just spritzing with soap and rinse at the self serve carwash has recovered the waxed look. They said the trim drank up lots of coatings, was very very dry. I just drive to dry though they recommend a micro fiber rub down.

Yessir! Cerakote is the best, and Ford MIC plastics take it very well.

My advice - use dawn soap and a blue scrubber pad to wash and scrub the bumper covers. Only apply in low humidity and only 1 coat every 24 hours. If you apply a second coat too soon it will trap the first coat before it cures and cause white spots and streaking.
I bought this but haven't used it yet. Can you use this on a brand new maverick? Or just to restore faded plastic? I just received my truck and has less than 50 miles. It seems like a pain to apply and don't want permanent spots, streaks, etc. Thanks.

I would say it is best to use it in on brand new plastics.

It's all in the prep work. The plastics need to be clean (dawn soap and a blue scrubber pad), dry, and free from any oils from your hands or other products (where rubber gloves).

Can you get the same result with less prep? It is possible, but Cerakote bonds permanently and if you aren't satisfied with your work - your only avenue is to order a new plastic part.

It went on flawlessly to my Bronco MIC plastic. It did not go on flawlessly to my Model 3 plastics - which I did rush the second coat - and the frunk plastics looked pretty rough when I traded it for my Maverick.

I've used Flood Penetrol (HomeDepot) for years on my Jeep's fender flares + bumpers = works like nothing else for me down here in Houston...

Apply outside with gloves/goggles: it's lasts a very long time...

I've used it on Wife's Bronco Sport Badlands as well...
