Those of you into NFL know what bold predictions are. For the rest of you, they're outlandish predictions that are nonetheless feasible. The more reckless your prediction, the more cool points you get. But it has to stay in the realm of "that's possible". The whole idea of bold predictions is that everyone is encouraged to ridicule them in good fun.

My bold prediction is that a rapidly deepening recession causes car buyers to vanish in droves by year's end. Meanwhile, Santa Cruz production exceeds demand. By year's end Hyundai is offering a $2,500 incentive on mid and high trim Santa Cruz models increasingly sitting unpurchased on dealer lots. Frustrated Maverick order holders jump ship in increasing numbers to buy the competition.

Not an unreasonable prediction.

In 2019 I thought I wanted a new Ranger. Dealers were marking them up and I couldn't even find one to sit in.

I lost interest until the party was over in November and Ford started offering $6k rebates. Took my dealer about an hour to locate exactly what I wanted and two days later I was driving it home.

Same thing will happen with the Maverick especially now with the economy tanking and interest rates going up.

Bold prediction….

Everyone waiting to get rolled into a 23MY because of the potential of more options finds that they are in fact worse trim pkgs fragmented, costlier and offer less but you can get it in green 😆

The Maverick will see inflation with a 5% price hike across the board. The Maverick will see shrinkflation with revised packages offering less for about the same price. But what the hell do I know, right?

You may not be wrong.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/may-retail-sales-unexpectedly-decline-123523319.html

Weak car sales weighed on overall spending last month, as the price of new and used vehicles continued to surge higher amid supply chain constraints and persisting shortages, and the cost of borrowing also increased. In all, auto sales plunged 3.5% in May.

I don't know if there's actually going to be a recession. Unemployment remains low and personal savings are relatively high.

Maybe slow growth but not a recession, where we have the economy contract for two quarters in a row.

My local dealer has like 10 Santa Cruz's on their lot and they don't seem to be selling very many. I actually test drove one. Comfortable little ride. I wouldn't give up my Hybrid with gas prices as they are, but I really don't have anything negative to say about them. It' seems you either like them or hate them. Where as the Maverick is just a truck and most a neutral on it.

Ford will get all current year orders built before they start taking new orders for MY23.
I will not have problems with my hybrid Ford vehicle.
Ford will up their customer service game and start communicating effectively.
Ford will send me an email.
I will buy a new Ford after this one.

Wow I Iike this game!

Edit: Shoot I screwed up, you said they actually had to be possible. I’ve always had problems following directions. 🤣

Bold prediction:

Hybrid AWD revealed during the mid cycle refresh. Maverick has a face lift to bring it more inline with the new ranger. PHEV?

I love bold predictions!

Maverick Hybrid recall by the end of August for battery issues (I don’t think this is really all that bold).

2023 Maverick prices will be up 10% and Ford still won’t be able to keep up, orders will be closed before the new year.

The used car market will slow but not noticeably in the next year as new vehicle supply will remain limited.

With everything they have to fix now, they would be stupid to add another product.

Mid cycle refreshes are normally a few years out so you would think they would have the issues ironed out by then. But this is Ford we’re talking about 😂

My not-so-bold prediction is that Ford fails to produce roughly 40% of the Mavericks ordered my Model Year 22, making the estimate wait time for a Model Year 23 roughly 18 months. Not that Ford will admit that, or even say how many trucks are ordered...

My bold prediction:

Many more companies will get back in the small truck market (just as inflation & high gas prices drove (pun intended) buyers to much smaller more efficient vehicles in the 70s).

Chevy, Toyota, Kia, and possibly Honda will all start making a "small" truck for a more reasonable price!

Would love to see those kind of options on the market!
