Ford ramps up and breaks ground on a new plant to build the Maverick and all of it's off-shoots. The plant will still be in Mexico though.

I love bold predictions!

Maverick Hybrid recall by the end of August for battery issues (I don’t think this is really all that bold).

2023 Maverick prices will be up 10% and Ford still won’t be able to keep up, orders will be closed before the new year.

The used car market will slow but not noticeably in the next year as new vehicle supply will remain limited.
I bet you're right about Maverick prices. I just watched a clip of the Ford CFO explaining that they made money on the Mach E when they started selling it, and they're losing money now. Costs of all kinds are skyrocketing for both ICE and BEV vehicles.

The Maverick will see inflation with a 5% price hike across the board. The Maverick will see shrinkflation with revised packages offering less for about the same price. But what the hell do I know, right?
Maybe with shrinkflation we will get a 2 door!

Those of you into NFL know what bold predictions are. For the rest of you, they're outlandish predictions that are nonetheless feasible. The more reckless your prediction, the more cool points you get. But it has to stay in the realm of "that's possible". The whole idea of bold predictions is that everyone is encouraged to ridicule them in good fun.

My bold prediction is that a rapidly deepening recession causes car buyers to vanish in droves by year's end. Meanwhile, Santa Cruz production exceeds demand. By year's end Hyundai is offering a $2,500 incentive on mid and high trim Santa Cruz models increasingly sitting unpurchased on dealer lots. Frustrated Maverick order holders jump ship in increasing numbers to buy the competition.

With the economy tanking and higher interest rates, and no buyers I predict we will finally see car dealerships with loads of inventory.

It’s funny. We’re supposed to be making outrageous predictions (and many of them are), but many are things we all hope happen. 😊

Bold prediction:

Hybrid AWD revealed during the mid cycle refresh. Maverick has a face lift to bring it more inline with the new ranger. PHEV?
i don't think a PHEV is that far of a stretch. as far as i know there is more space for battery in the maverick that isn't being used by the hybrid. might see this for 2024my at the absolute earliest in conjunction with the announcement of a hybrid bronco sport.

I agree on the 2024 assumption, the Escape PHEV has the same engine as the current Maverick Hybrid. Both based off the C2 platform, which means it shouldn't really be that hard to make happen. I think Ford will hold off until 2024 to get those current hybrid profits in.

There is no such thing as a supply economy, it's all about demand.

The more people feel like they are getting shafted by the dealers with their crazy price hikes and people realize all they have to do is wait it out, the prices will come back down.

My wife and I are looking for a Telluride, the Kia dealership down the street couldn't keep the used ones on the lot so they started jacking up the prices. They now have 4 used Tellurides with 15k+ miles for more than a brand new one and they have been sitting for the last 2 weeks.

Finally, people realized they were getting hosed paying $10k+ for a used car than a new one, so those Tellurides sit. Gooooooddddd!!!!

I want a Maverick. Will wait for the 2024-25 model.
