Noteworthy issues after a week of ownership:

  • Regen braking system does not give much user input as to when it's being applied vs. hydraulic brakes. There is no means to adjust the level of "regeness".
Turn the EV Coach on and you can see where max regen stops and regular braking starts.

I think the Ford guys did an outstanding job on the Maverick, especially the hybrid. I'd buy them all a round of drinks for job well done.

Thank you - as an engineer, enjoy the detail. The remote start catalytic converter problem would bother me the most. I have an XLT 2.0 coming and will be replacing the speakers - easy and relatively cheap, just some time. Drive mode can be adjusted via some programming I’d expect, and the rear view mirror will need to be replaced. I’ll be closing off the wheel wells with aftermarket mud flaps, and assume aftermarket will produce a liner like they do for the F150. Honestly, the concerning one for me is the catalytic converter issue.

My dad will be ordering a hybrid for 2023 when ordering opens and very interested what they address from this list - seems to capture most of what I’ve seen in reviews and this forum.
Yes, the Ford Connect Remote start should be disabled until further notice and dealerships made aware. Hopefully will be addressed before the 2023 model. I will definitely be buying a 2023 as I am hoping some of these aforementioned issues will be addressed or give me the time to conjure a future build.

You mentioned you have the hard roll up, does it flop like soft covers when driving? I find the soft cover flopping really distracting, so I'm considering hard covers and rollups.

Not at all. It is very secure. Nice tonneau

Personally, as the owner of the base (No Lux) Lariat trim in Hybrid form I have had zero issues with mine. Everything operates exactly as it should including remote start. Nothing glows, smokes, smells, flashes, vibrates, resets, rattles, fails, overheats etc.
Also, the quirks are part of the appeal, its a non issue, imo!

Im 💯 satisfied ❤ my truck

You can disable auto headlights, and auto brights specifically, it’s just an optionot sure if that as obvious or not, my salesman pointed it out to me.

I found eco mode on my first hybrid drive today was not quite aggressive enough for 1 pedal driving but it’s most of the way there. Maybe I can schmooze my driving habits to make 1 pedal work better for me. Adaptive Cruise today was the real icing on the cake for me. I think it’s so cool it works perfectly IMO

B&O speakers are okay, but I wasn’t impressed. Glad to have better than the stock speakers for sure. I’m no audiophile but I feel like the soundstage is unbalanced for the driver position at least, and there are only barebones settings to modify. Got some door rattle-buzz with volume at half capacity. No subwoofer slider to tone down, just overall “bass”.

Lovin this vehicle so far though, haven’t had a chance to do much yet.

As an engineer” is a really vague term… I’m an RF engineer of 38 years with plenty of mechanical experience.. things like brake lines exposed that are stainless steel and other assumptions just don’t seem very engineer like. Also expecting someone else to solve perceived problems for you as well, that sounds very unbecoming for an engineer…
Sorry I’m not trying to pick on you as you have some valid points but no solutions???

Congratulations on your new hybrid lariat, still waiting on mine.

Totally agree on FX4 for hybrids. Even with no independent rear suspension I still would have paid for it to get the extra goodies. I think Ford left some money on the table there. Also agree on the auto brights. Nothing but annoying on any car i've had. Seems like it's one of those weird things people think are super important on every car now. Even more annoying when you're driving around a bend and the other person's auto brights don't shut off until a split second after the glare hits you. A human knows to turn them off before the apex
You can turn that feature off by pulling the signal light stem toward you until it clicks, right? That's how other vehicles I've driven work.

Oh yes of course you can do that and you should. But when it becomes an "auto" feature people just zone out and let the system handle it. Which is fine like 95 percent of the time. But with manual brights a good driver turns them off 100 percent of the time before blinding anyone. Turning the auto brights off will literally be the first thing I do if my mav ever arrives

My Toyota has auto brights, and I just routinely use them out on the highway, then flick them off as I get closer to home. Mine manage twisty roads pretty well. It'll be interesting to see how the Maverick does. But it's such a simple adjustment that I mostly do it mindlessly like speeding up and slowing down.

I agree on the B&O. I have listened to an XLT stock system, so it's definitely an upgrade from that. I am glad I have it. The sound difference is very noticeable. The midrange dash speaker is a big bonus. Door woofers are way better. But it is just a nice factory incremental upgrade over stock. It is not even to the level of the Harman/Kardon system in my wife's minivan. A big downgrade from the system in my Lincoln Mark LT.

However, my LG V60 phone has LG 3D Sound Engine and a Digital Processing Equalizer which really enhances the sound quality when I optimize it for the B&O. Much richer sound quality, better bass.

The big problem with the B&O is that the rear subwoofer is on the rear channel and can only be adjusted in or out with fade. So to get enough subwoofer to be heard/felt from the rear, you also have to have the C pillar speakers blaring. I would love to isolate the two.

A B&O Unleashed option would be preferred.

Back up camera is blurry
I've noticed the same thing on my XLT, and was wondering if it's just me. I checked to make sure the lens was clean, and there wasn't a protective film or anything that got left on. Nope, it's just blurry/low resolution. I mean it's functional - I can see any obstructions that might be in the way, but compared to the camera on my Expedition it's pretty bad.

I haven't tried that, but in the vehicle settings on the main head unit you can permanently disable the auto-brights. One of the first things I did. My wife likes them on her Expedition (as well as all of the 360 co-pilot stuff), but I find all of those "helper" features to be super annoying.
