I wanted to share some info after my first week with my Maverick Hybrid XLT.
1. Combined MPG numbers were better than advertised. I drove 554.6 miles on my first tank of 87 octane gas. The dash read out showed 29 miles until empty, but I did not want to cut it any closer than that. The dash read out showed I have been getting 42.2 MPG in combined MPG.
I believe the actual mileage is about 41.6 MPG. How I came up with my MPG number is when I did my fill up after driving 554.6 miles on the refill the truck took 13.5 gallons of gas which means I used 13.3 gallons of gas to travel 554.6 miles.
I live in Southern California at close to sea level with a temperatures that ranged from about 60-72 during this first tank full. My truck bed was empty most of the time. I did haul two loads of furniture a total of about 35 miles.
I would estimate on this tank of gas about 70 percent of my driving was highway an
2. The head room is much better than expected. I am 6-1 and about 250 lbs and I am very comfortable in this truck.
I have had as many as four adults in it and everyone said they were comfortable.
3. The truck rides smooth for a truck and actually has a smoother ride than my 2017 VW Tiguan.
4. I am also very pleased with the under seat storage. I can get lots of gear and tools in there.
5. I really like the dash read out that lets you know after each trip ( trip being from when you started car to when you turn it off) what percentage was under battery power.
6. This is my first hybrid so it did take me a few days to get use to not hearing a motor fire up when you start the car. I thought I was not going to like the gear selector twist knob, but actually really like it.
The only bad thing that happened this week related to the truck is someone hit and run my truck and broke the driver side tail light. When shopping for parts make sure you call multiple dealers if you have multiple dealers in your area. The first dealer I called said the taillight is $647. The second one I called said $237. Neither dealer has it in stock so it should arrive in 2-3 days.
