Had the rear camera software updated today plus the driver's side seat belt recall done.

My initial observations:

The screen is definitely brighter. No question about it. Noticed it right off getting into the truck with the FORD emblem splash screen.

The brightness adjustment bar in settings still does not change after 50% but who cares really. I think some will actually find it too bright and will be turning it down now.

Apple CarPlay boots up much faster now and operates smoother as well. I would expect Android Auto to be the same. I hope so as I will soon be leaving the dark side and purchasing an Android phone.

Last, but not least, I used to notice slight little pauses in the back up camera more often than not, nothing major but it was there. After testing it a couple of dozen times the operation is much smoother.

Dealer recommended I start using a battery tender as the battery checked out good but at 50%.

All in all I would say, so far everything is much better than it was. The whole process took an hour and a half this morning and cost the dealer 2 cups of coffee and two nice fat jelly creme donuts.
At least you had doughnuts. I haven't noticed any difference. It's been a week since I had it done.

Had mine done today also. Never had a problem in the first place, one hour later on the road, Don’t notice any difference in anything. They still don’t have a clue when I talk about the transmission ‘lug’ oops sorry, shudder! Been to two dealers and they all say”WTF you talkin bout Willis! Clueless bastards!!!
Here is a good video addressing the intentional lugging of modern engines.

I have gotten into the habit of switching between eco mode on the highway and tow in the city.

Since the frozen backup camera issue was announced, even in my Lariat with Sync3 [which was not affected by that recall], I make sure the image is moving as I back up.
Here is a picture of my frozen backup camera not moving while I was driving forward. I am scheduled for reprogramming next week and hope it does resolve this.

No recalls on my 2024 Eco, never had a single one of any kind per Ford.

Had to run some errands this afternoon with about maybe 6 times shutting off the truck and starting back up it went right to the preset screen every time. Same FM station too. Hope this helps.
Hmmm. Maybe a setting did change then, and it's waiting for the phone connection.
Thanks for checking.

And viewing this thread on mobile made me discover that perhaps this method does lose something beneficial - can't see the profile info for extra details like model year or trim. Only the Hybrid or Eco label.
That explains why it seems like some people respond to a post and missed the details that they ask about. Can't see them!

You didn't test drive a Dark Horse mustang or Ranger Raptor?

Funny the dealership advised battery tender because your battery is low. Did you ask them if you had to buy one, or are they suppling it.
As far as my camera, it is a little clearer and it shuts off faster when switching to drive. It used to stay on until getting above 8 or 10 mph.

Got the back up stuff recall letter from Ford. Asking ”Bob the Camera Guy”…my screen works fine. Should I let dealer plug in, patch in software? Humm?

Also guessing gonna need to deal with the seatbelt issue.

Good to know some getting this recall done, and reporting good results. And some getting belly filled with jellied donuts. 😝

When I do bring truck in, I will first ask “Are your technicians qualified“. Honestly, it’s a valid question since have had some so so experiences with this big time dealer I am using.

That is a setting that likely was defaulted.
Mine stayed enabled.

SWITCHING REAR VIEW CAMERA DELAY ON AND OFF

  1. Press Features on the touchscreen.
  1. Press Driver Assistance.
  1. Press Rear View Camera.
  1. Switch rear view camera delay on or off.
When shifting the transmission out of reverse (R) and into any gear other than park (P), the camera image remains in the display until:
  • Your vehicle speed reaches approximately 5 mph (8 km/h).
  • You shift your vehicle into park (P).
