I've seen a lot of content around the auto stop function. This is my first vehicle with it and sometimes I turn it off as I find it annoying. I'm all for reducing fuel consumption, but as someone who keeps cars for a long time, I'm mostly interested in vehicle longevity. I watched this video (https://www.autostopeliminator.com/products/2022-ford-maverick-autostop-eliminator) and the people only speak to the annoyance of auto stop. But does anyone know if using the feature leads to any engine issue, or other costly repairs related to this function? Is it better for the vehicle? Or is it inconsequential either way? Any insights here would be appreciated.

It simply disables the auto stop / remembers the setting you chose at each start-up. There is no way it would harm the engine. It's purely personal choice.

If A.S.S. doesn't bother you, I wouldn't worry about it. Most find it to be a laggy unreliable system and the annoyance is that it doesn't give you the choice in remembering what setting you chose so you have to disable it at every start-up. Every vehicle I've had with A.S.S. has used the Eliminator.

Awesome. Thanks a lot!

I have several vehicles with ASS and I automatically disable it. Use it/don't use is entirely up to you. I think it is an annoyance, but I get the theory of saving fuel. The vehicle engineers compensate for the extra stop/start cycles by having a more robust battery and starter components.

I saw a study which said ASS could save up to 8% in heavy stop and go traffic.

First time I drove a vehicle with it was a rental F150. Took me a whole day to learn that you just need to let off the brake to start the engine to get ready to go. And it was TX in May so sometimes it kicked the engine on for the A/C anyway.

So I personally don't think it would be worth "defeating" it. Easy enough to drive with it on. *shrug*

Wife's Explorer actually has the Auto-Start/Stop removal credit due to supply shortages. She never cared for it in the Escape, so it was free money as far as she is concerned. I don't mind it in the Maverick. Honestly, the few moments of calm at a red light can feel good on the back. It's one of the reasons EVs interest me as they don't have that additional engine vibration.

Plus, as mentioned above, once you know how to manipulate it with your foot, it is easy to be ready to move once the light turns green. It is slightly annoying when it activates when I am waiting to turn. I had a situation this past weekend where we were waiting on the guy in front of us to turn and I told my wife, "that gap was so large my truck got bored..."

Plus if you have Adaptive Cruise Control and can bring yourself to trust it you can Zero Pedal Drive in heavy traffic. I usually brake and use the resume button at appropriate time as I have not had the guts to use resume during the stopped period.
The engine start will come on for other reasons and it appears to after 45-60 seconds. (I wonder if this time delay is to restart engine by just adding spark to cylinder ready to fire and the 45-60 seconds is the max time the spark or injection can be delayed and still work??)

For the most part, this is true. The exception is driving frequent and short distances, where the system disables A.S.S. This is due to the charging system does not have enough time to recharge/replenish the battery.

If it's on an ecoboost I would disable it. Would save wear and tear on the starter. My son did that on his 22 XLT with a programmer. On a hybrid it's normal behavior and a different setup. Have owned 2 2015 hybrids and a PHEV over the last 10 years and it has never caused an issue. Getting ready to sell or trade our Honda on the new incoming Mav hybrid.

I have an Ecoboost. I disabled mine.
Do not like sitting at an intersection, especially waiting to turn, and the car turns off. Also while slight, a delay is a delay, if you try to get out of the way in an emergency. Try hitting the gas quickly when stopped, with it is on and when it is off, and see if you like it.
I also do not like how HVAC also is impacted, can hear the fan speed change.
The starter and battery are more robust then normal, but it is still more uses of each. While you sit stopped your radio, HBAC and everything is pulling power from the battery; start back up and battery is topped back off.

If you want an auto s/s eliminator, this was posted for sale yesterday: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/4d-tech-auto-start-stop-eliminator.39523/

I went a different route, you can read about it here: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/4d-tech-auto-start-stop-eliminator.39523/

Our habit on our eco boost has become: get in-close door-start engine-press disable button. It is now routine.

My 2020 EcoSport has AutoStop, there was a wire connected to the battery that controlled the AutoStop system. I would disconnect that wire to turn AutoStop off. When I would have my oil changed at the dealership, they would reconnect it. The last time I had the oil changed, they rewired the system so I couldn't disconnect it. My mileage improved 2 mpg.
