Had front axle replaced end of May and have had not wobble/shimmy since. I have no lift and only now have 3,000mi. Based upon my results and what I’m reading I thinking all of these shake issues are due to bad axles.
May I ask how long the repair took. Could they order parts in and be ready? Thanks, just realized I got the wobblys.

I think it really depends on the actual dealership you’re dealing with. I screwed around with Ford and the dealership that I bought the truck from for over 6 months with no support whatsoever.

Supposedly the Ford engineers told the dealership that the first thing to check would be the wheels and tires. Since I have a lariat I was told they could only use wheels and tires from another lariat. None of the local dealerships had a lariat in stock, or on order, so someone would need to order one, have it arrive about a year later and be rejected for acceptance. Only then would they be able to get past the 1st step of determining that the wheels are tires were not the problem and diagnose further.

I told the Ford rep how asinine that sounded but was told that any path forward was strictly between the dealership and Ford engineers. So, I requested the rep contact the engineer and tell them how stupid their idea was, but they have no insight into who the specific engineer is.

At my request, the Ford rep found another local dealership that was willing to help. That dealership actually looked at the Maverick and decided that the problem was most likely the front axle, but the parts required were on back order with no ETA. The rep requested a rush on the parts but said it may have no impact due to part shortages. To everyone’s surprise the parts showed up in 2 days. Took a week to schedule it in for repair and a half day to fix. It’s been about 4 weeks now with no wobble.

Evidently, the dealership takes their direction from the Ford “engineer” and must follow that path for warranty reimbursement. So, I guess if you find a dealership that takes the initiative and happens to deal with a real Ford engineer it could be a fairly smooth process if the parts are available but as far as ordering the parts first to have them ready to go I doubt that would never happen.

Hopefully I’ve answered your question correctly. I’ve tried to attach a list of the parts that were replaced.

Thank you for your information. It allows me to suggest a possibility to the Tech. A good possibility. Very conclusive.

I did the same with my strut. It’s the inner CV that went. Boots look fine.

Ford blamed it on the lift, but I think it was a bad part from the getgo as there was grease leaking out of the end.

Just ordered a replacement for $300 since Ford wouldn’t do the warranty. Fingers crossed it was just a bad part and not the stress from the lift.
Ford wont do warrenty repairs. Still waiting for the air bags for a saftey recall been like a year.... muttiple problems muttiple screw you from the dealer. I won't buy another ford that's for sure... had issuse with alignment of the rear wheel... a ford master mechanic inspected it and found it he doesn't work for ford anymore said they were screwing people all the time he was un willing to do that to people and works for him self... been lied to by the dealer muttiple time. I told a guy waiting for a quote to buy a ram not a super duty found people went bent flywheels on a new truck. That guy had a he'll of a time dealing with them 100k new truck almost zero mileage. He doesn't even tow with it he uses a full size dump truck. Even he won't buy ford agian his advise yell at them

Shimmy ('22 Hybrid) in front end is increasing. I will go and talk to the Ford Dealer on Monday 7/10/23.

My "Shimmy" appointment this morning was not totally bad. The Truck was in at 7:20am and the Mechanic was calling at 9am. He said I needed 2 axles. He figured it would take 7-10 days, to get them in. I did get my Truck back, to "Shimmy" around in. This is not the Dealer I bought the Truck from. I'm impressed. Latrobe Ford, PA.

That's awesome that they were able to get it diagnosed quickly. Good news.

Yes. With a vin of 37506, I watch for all relative information on the new (2022) builds. This will hopefully just be a minor correction. I love my Hybrid Truck. Right size, power and gas consumption. If this were not a First-Run, I might be disappointed. I will update as more of the trail becomes revealed. Thank you everyone who contributes their knowledge. It does helps someone, somewhere.

One Week Update: Tuesday 7/18/23
Called the Ford Garage for update on the status of their "Adventure" ordering 2 new axles, for MY22 Maverick. "Status is unknown, but they will check with the Parts Dept and call when they have them in."
My Maverick, with 16k, is now grounded, the shimmy really attacks above 45 miles an hour. I hope they can find the Little Devils soon. It is my only vehicle.

Hopefully not derailing this thread, but I think I may be in the bad axel boat here and looking for opinions.

Current milage: 3650

about a week ago I installed the HRG 1.5" puck lift, and immediately on the first test drive, I felt a bit of a 'wobble' as it seems to be described, when accelerating straight from about ~17-23mph. I only drove about 10 miles on it, and went to get it aligned the next day. I went to a highly reputable shop in the area that aligns all of the lifted trucks in town, and they adjusted the cam bolts and get it all straightened out.

She drives straight as an arrow now, but I still get that little bit of a wobble when accelerating straight between 18-21mph at maybe 30% throttle. I don't really feel it when accelerating through a turn, or with a bit more juice; but that still doesn't seem right, right? I only have maybe 100 miles on the lift so far, and I don't get any wobble at higher speeds; its just that tiny pocket between ~18-21mph now.

Is this enough cause to reach out to ford/my dealership? Seems like its hit or miss if the dealership will 'ding' me for installing a lift, even just a 1.5", but the fact that it started happening so early makes me feel like they were bad from the get go. Just looking for some other opinions here, thanks.

Shimmy Update: In for service 7:30am Mechanic called at 1:23. Truck done. I am happy. Got a ride down and Latrobe Ford had installed 2 new axles. PLUS BONUS, they installed the replacement 12v battery cable. Can't beat that. All under warranty. Latrobe Ford. And I did not buy the truck from them.
