I have a 2022 XL 2.0 with what appears to be a bad inner CV axle on the driver’s side. It has less than 5k miles on it. I put a Rough Country 2” leveling kit/lift on it with about 2-3k miles. The passenger side is fine. I did find some grease coming out of the bottom of the boot. It’s making a clunking noise when you rock of back and forth at low speed. It also shakes a little when I accelerate from about 10-25mph. Alignment was done a few days after the lift was installed.

I took it to the dealer and advised them of my suspicions. They stated that it was most likely the issue, but they wouldn’t cover anything as the lift voided the warranty.

I’ve seen a few things online where people are having the same issue without the lift, so I wanted to see if this is more widespread.

I have not and I have a 2” lift kit installed from Rangerlifts.
I did grind the bottom of the strut that way it doesn’t contact the rubber boot.

I did the same with my strut. It’s the inner CV that went. Boots look fine.

Ford blamed it on the lift, but I think it was a bad part from the getgo as there was grease leaking out of the end.

Just ordered a replacement for $300 since Ford wouldn’t do the warranty. Fingers crossed it was just a bad part and not the stress from the lift.

Any company will try and get out of a warranty. They will look and find a way.
Is the $300 just the rubber boot.
I would assume an entire cv axle costs more.

You probably just had a bad part and they blamed the lift.

The $300 was for the entire axle. This one for reference. Part number nz6z3b437a

That’s not to bad on the price for the entire axle.
The labor rate is should be close to that.

Going to install it myself so that helps cut the pain of the cost/lack of warranty work.

good luck with your rig. Hopefully it’s not a widespread issue. Folks with lifts will have to eat the cost if it’s not a recall issue.

Replaced the CV. Still having the same issues but seems to be more mild. At a loss for what’s going on at this point. Might just be how it rides with the lift and increased CV angle. Real head scratcher

I would go through and check torque specs on all things the were removed for the lift.

Yep 2" Rough Country installed by 4 Wheel Parts and dealer is blaming bad axle on the lift.
Right at 4500 miles on the lift.

is this the same part as the upgraded half shafts the Tremor gets?

Same issue?

I replaced the CV that I thought was bad (but is probably fine) and I’m still getting the wobble. Might just be a geometry issue that Rough County just didn’t address in the design. Seems to only happen when I’m accelerating from 10-25pmh, more so if I’m turning. No issues at any other speeds.
