While waiting for my Mav, it has been on order since July, my Forester blew a head gasket. $3500 in repairs. Only 125k mi on the Forester. This Forester is now the most expensive vehicle I have ever driven. I hope the Mav's hybrid drivetrain is longer lived.

drove a 1978 Subaru wagon in high school (1992), bought a 1997 wagon in 2007 and drove it until 2015 (including trips from SC to Wyoming).

Wife had a 2005 Impreza when we got married, sold it this year expecting to buy a new vehicle next year. when Maverick popped up on the radar, ordered a hybrid as soon as we found out about them (October 21). We've always loved the idea of a Baja but the Mav is way more capable (bigger bed, more payload, way better gas mileage) and "regular-looking".

My 2 cents: If you have a suitable car now, just wait for something more capable to get released. With all the interest in the Maverick including in the aftermarket I think it would be wise to wait and see if a Tremor/Rattler or whatever comes out. The FX4 Mav is surprisingly pretty capable but given how it performs it isn't hard to imagine a real off-roading version.

2018 Impreza hatchback here. It's a fun car to drive but the gas mileage sucks for it's size. 25 MPG in the spring/summer. Only getting 22 MPG now with the cold and winter gas. Plan on ordering a 2023 hybrid when they open up ordering in August. Had a 2012 Tacoma prior to the Impreza and always wanted to go back to a truck. The Maverick is much more roomy than the Tacoma at a fraction of the cost. Only got 15 MPG with my Tacoma and short commute.

It seems like every Subaru owner I know has blown a head gasket and needed a $3-4K fix

I’m going to hold onto my 3 year old 2019 Subaru Outback Limited for a while after my Maverick Lariat Hybrid arrives, just to be sure that the Maverick meets my expectations as a daily driver. If it does, I’ll sell the Subaru for a good price to Carvana.

Traded 2016 Outback for a 2020 Outback (Wife's car). Love the outback. Still waiting for my Hybrid Lariat with Lux and sun roof. We have been a one car family for 5 months. July 12 order.

2006 Outback with 157k miles, replaced with a Bronco Sport Badlands and/or Maverick (if It ever gets built). Outback is still on its original clutch, and all in all it’s been a good car.

My wife has a 2014 Outback and we swear by it. She was reluctant when I told her I wanted to buy her one, but now says she wants the same car when it's time for an upgrade, maybe with a higher trim level.

Currently drive a Baja Turbo with 137,### mi. Will be selling it if my XLT hybrid ever gets built.

Ahead of its time. Imagine a new Baja built on the current Outback platform in Wilderness trim.

To answer OP, I've owned 3 Imprezas in my life, all great cars.
