Actually it's Australia.
My point is the same, but duly noted.

Damn those expensive crumple zones.this is definitely true. all these crumple zones, the ever continuing push for safety above any concerns for repairability or cost, are pushing vehicles that get totaled far easier than years past.
I hear what your saying, who wants to write out a check. Most of the Mavs here who get rear ended seem to get totaled out.ins companies don't just total vehicles on a whim - they're not really interested in writing someone a $28,000 check if they don't need to.
Im sorry this happened to you. Another Cyber Orange goneIn late August, I was rear-ended while sitting at a stoplight. I wasn't hurt, but the crumple zones did their jobs and sacrificed themselves. I got notified that it was totaled last week. 8900 miles. Once the insurance wrangling is done, it's off to Dovi Motors in Cortland, NY to order a '25. I only wish that Cyber Orange was still available!

That's what I'm sayingDoesn't take much to total a vehicle nowadays

I don't know if it's the truck or the color, but you would think this color would stand out. I had at least 3 close calls with my cyber orange. It was like they didn't see me. Just pulled out in front of me. Crazy. That sucks. It is not like the color of your truck blended it in with the road or the surroundings. How the heck did they miss you being stopped?
I don't know if the hitch-mounted
shock absorbing step would have helped. It is only good up to 30 mph.
I just emailed my insurance about this. This would be something to consider.Sorry this happened to you.
Because the Maverick usually gets totaled when rear ended I had AllState put on "Auto Replacement Protection" on my policy. That way if I get totaled I get a brand new Maverick exactly like I have at no cost to me no matter how long I have owned it or if it depreciated. With the annual price increases Ford does on the Maverick that policy is worth the $9.10 I pay every six months.
Maybe you should try hiding around school buses.I don't know if it's the truck or the color, but you would think this color would stand out. I had at least 3 close calls with my cyber orange. It was like they didn't see me. Just pulled out in front of me. Crazy.
I'm surprised this vehicle was totaled by the insurance company. It's wholesale price is probably $25K+, and the unibody damage doesn't come close to that amount. Unless parts are not available, someone is going to fix this up and have a sweet little ride.In late August, I was rear-ended while sitting at a stoplight. The rails under the bed are high strength lightweight boron steel. They can not be heated without losing structural integrity. While, somebody may be able to fix it to look right it will be brittle.I'm surprised this vehicle was totaled by the insurance company.
