My situation

“I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention the issues I encountered after bringing my Maverick in for the side airbags recall last week. Unfortunately, several concerns have arisen as a result of this service.

Firstly, the A pillars on both the driver's and passenger's side were not reinstalled flush, resulting in a noticeable gap. Additionally, there are multiple scratches present on both pillars.

Secondly, the driver's side seat belt is excessively stiff and fails to retract upon unlatching.

Thirdly, there are unsightly black greasy fingerprints and marks throughout the headliner, along with a small tear.

Lastly, despite my request, the oil change and inspection for a warranty claim regarding the tailgate issue were not performed. Recently, the tailgate on the passenger side came out of the white plastic bushing, causing damage to the black hinge and scratching the tailgate plastic considerably. I wanted the body shop to inspect this to see if this can be replaced under warranty.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.”

Has anyone had the Side/Airbag recall performed and have had it not been a disaster with dash scratches - Mis/Aligned A -Pillars and or new dash rattles ?
Had mine in to Sawgrass Ford and before and after pictures were the same. I did remind them of problems others had.

When I had mine done at Wendell Ford in Spokane, the headliner installation was originally not correct on the driver's side. I brought it in again on the next business day, and they corrected it in about 15 minutes.

Otherwise, no problem.

No, but I do have some greasy finger prints on all four corners of the headliner.

This would drive me nuts. How can they not even try to clean their mess? Maybe is best they didn't. It would probably look worst. I took delivery of my 2023 Maverick Lariat a few weeks ago. I wonder if mine will also get an airbag recall. If I do, i will delay as much as possible.

Since you've got a 23 you're OK as the recalled Maverick trucks were reportedly built before July 9, 2022.

Had my airbag recall done today (2022 XLT), I had put it off as long as possible, as I was afraid they would screw things up. When I dropped of the vehicle they said they had already done about 20 of them, so that made me feel a little better...

Upon closer inspection once I got home - I noticed that there were grease/stain marks on the passenger side B pillar, not a big deal as I was able for the most part to clean them off. There were also handprints and marks on the inside of the windshield, easy to clean off, but in my opinion a good tech would looks things over when done and clean everything up properly...

Worse, there are scratches on top of the passenger side dash, just a few inches away from the A pillar, probably from the bottom of the A pillar scraping when they removed it. These scratches, of course, will not come off. What's bothersome is that the dealer/tech did not fess up, certainly the tech had to see that this happened.

What should I do? I am going to go back Monday and show the service advisor. I don't know what they would do in this situation - I would hate to have to have the whole dash replaced as that would probably introduce squeaks and rattles. The marks are not real deep but they do show. Has anyone else run into this or a similar issue?

Had mine done a few weeks back with the same results as you. Have scratch’s on trim and dash and had grease marks all over the place. Was able to clean the grease marks off with a warm cloth. Anyone getting this recall done has a 90% chance of having new scratches and grease mark when they get their truck back.

Did you bring this up with your dealer, and if so what was their reaction?

There is not much you can do to stop from getting scratches on the plastic pieces used on the Maverick. No matter how careful you are, keys, rings, anything harder then the plastic, will scratch it. I bought a piece of 10' 3/4" PVC pipe that reached through the rear sliding window, and rested on the dashboard. When I got home, my dash has zig-zag marks to remind me to wrap up anything that touches it again.

I did not. It is what it is... It could be worse.

I saw someplace, not sure where, but the amount of work that it takes to replace the airbag is a lot. When mine was done, they scratched the tint on my windshield, and the dealership paid to have it replaced. I'm surprised they didn't fight it.

Fortunately, I did not have any after install issues with the airbag recall. I took "before" pictures as a precaution.
The dealerships that messed up the installs need to be more regulatory over their head mechanics or service managers or whoever is in charge of the regular mechanics/techs. Why weren't the installers wearing latex type gloves? Why wasn't the job inspected before releasing the vehicle? Sadly lacking Management 101 skills.
