That much I understand but the OP specifically mentioned hybrid, which is only available as a FWD. wondering why locking a rear end on a FWD vehicle would be of any help if there is no power to it
R U high? My '25 Maverick Lariat hybrid AWD has a driveshaft going to a rear differential and if I recall the final drive ratio is around 2.91:1. 🤔

Yeah, a locker would be helpful, but the '26 has updated software and gets through challenging terrain better. I hear that FORD is planning an OTA update for the '25 model. Pre-'25 I guess ur SOL.

The stock Wrangler street tires were just so so going through snow melt soaked yard and construction of my home was about to start, so I bought steel wheels, programmable TPMS's and All Terrain tires. My little truck gets around pretty darned good! The MPG took a hit though my priority is home construction so MPG be damned at 33mpg avg. 😃

I like the look on the construction workers faces when I climb over the big dirt mound on a 20° slope! I have the skid plates on my truck and will get to the lift kit and air bags soon.

I was a couple of posts in before I clocked how old this thread was. Early days of the Mav were WILD, huh?

There is no front or rear end to put a locker in. The transmission acts as both. The traction control can simulate a limited slip differential by applying brakes to slipping wheels, but as others have said, this is a car with a bed. A Ranger might be a better choice for you.
Yep, electric motors don't have a differerental. Or do they?

A single electric motor (e.g., in the Slate) would have to connect to a differential somewhere to drive more than one axle on a car, the diff is a basic precept for automotive powertrains. Without it the tires would not be able to turn at different speeds and would bind on pavement when turning.

A Ford HF45 or HF55 eCVT certainly does have a differential gearset (in image, part no. 12) in addition to it's one and only "power split" planetary gearset (parts 55 (planetary carrier and gears), 56 (ring gear), and 57 (sun gear).

Ahh, the sheer beauty of a simple clutchless geared powertrain.
Ford Maverick Aftermarket locking differential for hybrid Maverick? diff and planetary

None of that rubberband-belt-on-pulleys-that-wears-out type CVT or "why can't I just bolt a much bigger turbo and flash a tune on my Ecoboost"* stuff in our Hybrid Mavericks here, no siree.

*You could, but the clutches in your 8F35 ain't gonna like it.
