I'm curious what Toyota model made you run for the hills?Sorry to hear this. Love cyber orange - you rarely see them. I get the lack of trust. I once had a Toyota go bad on me and had a horrible dealership service experience. My brain told me Toyotas were high quality. My emotions said the opposite and I haven't set foot in a Toyota dealership in 30 years.
A bad experience can poison a buyer against a brand for a lifetime. And that is one reason why the Ford CEO is fighting to improve quality at Ford.
Back in the day, my mother bought a brand new 1987 Toyota Camry, he first new car after decades of driving VWs. 700 miles in, the engine blew because...lo and behold...the engine had come without an engine oil cap! Mind you, this was back in the day when "customer service" actually meant something. Her car was towed to the dealership and there was non of this futzing around "oh, we'll fix it" nonsense/lemon law. They gave her a new car right then and there. She had that car for six years before giving it up for an Acura Integra.
