If there is it is not known how to do so on the owner end so far. Even if it was possible it is not a good idea to start out in anything but default anyways. There is always one who will start up in lets say mud / ruts mode with the FX4 package and destroy their transmission driving down the highway at 60+ and thinking the vibration is a wheel out of alignment. It is a liability issue for Ford.
Posting here so I don't hijack the thread in the FORSCAN subforum.

Isn't the Maverick supposed to have AWD? But the warnings on the Mud/Ruts and Snow settings read like it's behaving more like a part- time 4x4 (all wheels rotating at the exact same speed) instead of an AWD or full- time 4x4.

Anyone familar with how it's supposed to work?

Sand mode is closest to 4WD. All wheels powered but traction control basically off.

not true 4WD but best for deep snow in inclines.

good vid. Why you need Sand mode

Snow mode changes the rotation speed on the rear tires so one acts like an anchor. The drive modes are dependent upon ABS braking and either the AWD or FWD depending which is installed. If drive modes worked only with AWD you'd have none on FWD vehicles. It is just a different implementation of the same thing.

Right but sand mode and possibly mud and ruts to some extent basically powers all 4 wheels so you get all wheels spinning equally through sand or deep snow instead of traction control constantly being applied
