got a rock through mind today quoted $1485 to replaceAfter driving an XLT and loaded Lariat/Lux back to back I will say that the Lariat is noticeably quieter with engine/road noise- I looked into the Acoustic windshields Ford and other manufacturers are using and this technology seems pretty impressive. Looks like Ford has been using these since 2009- Anyone have one and or have replaced a cracked unit and can speak to day to day usage/benefits ? Thanks-
Dang if not covered by insurance I would be reaching out to other glass shops-got a rock through mind today quoted $1485 to replace
Was that for an acoustic or regular windshield?got a rock through mind today quoted $1485 to replace
I think the camera is inside the windshield in the black plastic pod that sits against the windshield and supports the rearview mirror.I definitely would have designed it to be interior of the windshield, not part of that-which-takes-a-rock-and-cracks! Ha!
Nothing is "free".I am very intrigued by this statement.
Free from your insurance company(no deductible)?
Is this a state law?
Who pays for this if not insurance?
Oh, thank you! That's very good to know...!I think the camera is inside the windshield in the black plastic pod that sits against the windshield and supports the rearview mirror.
Safelite said the camera would be recalibrated (they didn't say replaced) when they replace my windshield, so I'm assuming they can remove the windshield without trashing the camera.
The windshield is listed at $498 on ford parts.got a rock through mind today quoted $1485 to replace
I had mine replaced by Safelite in May. Acoustic window was $477, labor including $250 camera calibration was $371.I checked the prices at my Ford dealer's website and found that there was only an 11 dollar difference between the regular and acoustic windshields -- $425 versus $436.
I'm wondering why Safelite is quoting $1483 to replace the windshield. They replaced the windshield in my daughter's Dodge Journey for a little over $300, but it has no front-facing camera.
Are these prices real? Has anyone had a replacement done by the dealer?
That motivated me to go back to the web and drill down on my appointment. There is a link to a work order there now that I didn't see before. (It may not have been there at first). The email quote of $1483 they sent me was way, way off. The actual cost is $591.99.I had mine replaced by Safelite in May. Acoustic window was $477, labor including $250 camera calibration was $371.
$890 Total with tax.
Ford OEM acoustic windshields will have “SoundScreen“ trademark on lower driver side. I had one replaced on a 2018 Navigator, no problems at all. After driving an XLT and loaded Lariat/Lux back to back I will say that the Lariat is noticeably quieter with engine/road noise- I looked into the Acoustic windshields Ford and other manufacturers are using and this technology seems pretty impressive.
