I had the SSM 53801 update applied plus a new Motorcraft (BXT 99RT4) battery replaced about 1 month ago (5/22/25). At the time Ford mechanic indicated the battery failed a load test. Everything has been fine until this morning when it entered deep sleep mode after I had the door open about 2 minutes. The day before I had driven at least 15 miles. Mine is a 2023 XLT hybrid.

Just goes to show that Ford doesn't know what the heck they are doing. No reason that you can't open a door for a few minutes without the 12v battery SOC dropping to near dead.

Have to wonder if somehow the update didn't really take. Here's hoping that Ford can actually get this battery drain problem behind them. I do think that all the connectivity demands are still too much for that battery also. Should be better than the original 390 CCA battery, but this problem should not have recurred this soon. Something is amiss here. 🤔

That sucks, sorry to hear that! I still have the original battery and haven't had the SSM-53801 update yet but the same thing happened to me the other day. I was putting in my Maxzina inner door sill protectors (Great product) and made sure to close the doors and lock the car right away to kill the lights. At best, the inner lights were on for a total of minutes while installation and I went into deep sleep. The vehicle was driven about 40 miles the day before. And the whole time I'm out there working on the car, it just keeps clicking away.

More anecdotal evidence. Went on a beach vacation last week so I parked Mav in the garage, double locked, for a week. The 12v AGM was charged to 72% and the weather was in the 70’s all week. When we came home, I started Mav and the SOC was 39% ….. no dome lights but started right up. Put the AGM in during August 2024. This is a Mav problem going on 3+ years. It’s not going to get solved by Ford.

Whole Heartedly Agree. The AGM is only short term help to some degree. Ford software and hardware engineers need to get their heads together and revamp the software battery related charging code, that's the only thing that's going to truly fix the issue. It's now been 4 years and they still haven't seriously made the effort to fix it for good. Hate it for all the owners plagued with the issue.

I hope you had a nice beach trip. That's crazy how it drains so quickly just sitting! I've always been able to start mine despite the deep sleep warning but it's still annoying as hell!

Wish Ford would explain why our Mavericks click, and click, and click, and click, when you walk into the garage. Is it clicking even when no one is in the garage? If a Maverick is parked in the forest, with no one around to hear it's clicking, is it still clicking?

Yes because it's looking for recognition of it's existence. I think it has daddy issues and needs constant attention.

I may have been hasty in saying the update didn't work. The problem may have been related to the bad battery. For now everything is as it should be. Just have to wait to see if the gremlin Deep Sleep comes back. I got a friend with Forscan to change the power outlet timeout from 75 minutes to 60 second. Took him 5 minutes. I did find it strange that my dealer didn't have Forscan. Still scatching my head on that one

That's your Lariat with keyless entry.

My XLT doesn't.

Keyless entry sees the key fob coming, and enables the hand sensors on handles, and extra sensors for fob location.
It might be prepping fuel pressure or related too, but didn't find that in manual.

It clicks, and clicks, and clicks, even if we don't have the fob with us.

Russian made software on corporate computer ....
Ya I'm hoping those computer system are a tad more secure than allowing personally loaded programs.

Since not a default setting, it should not be available in their software package which does many similar things.

Also - the timeout really only matters if you have something plugged into the outlet using power. Perhaps you do.
But a powered outlet (think your house) doesn't mean there is power used. If you have a USB adapter in there showing V, then that much power is being used until the timeout.

Deep Sleep isn't a gremlin - it's an attempt to preserve battery life because the system has no idea how long the truck is going to remain unstarted.
That's merely an indication the battery has reached a problem state requiring it (unless 14 days non-started was reason).
But you'd hopefully notice lights going off sooner & sooner before that stage is reached.
And some systems report thru Fordpass that Battery Saver has been enabled before Deep Sleep. I'm guessing Lariat because my XLT never has.

Why would your dealer have a hacker's tool? It isn't a Ford approved tool. Probably voids the vehicle warranty as well. I wouldn't want to buy someone's used Maverick that some uneducated yahoo had dinked around with who knows what settings. May have messed some things directly related to safety.

If this is after the 75 min potential time out of all systems, then that is bad.
