I love the band Bread. Great songss. My mother always hated them. She said the way the songs were written and the way David Gates sang them she said she always pictured him being the last man on earth singing to no one. just a lonely man! I always thought that was funny.

Hello, "cousin." Yes, I really do have a cousin named David Allen. It looks like you got all the help you need here. I also love your music selection. I love the classic rock sounds and also grew up listening to the same music. If I am listening to music, it is either classic rock or classic country. Don't forget the Neil Diamond! Have a great trip!

I use Spotify on my Android and plug it into the phone into USB port. Then I can listen to any music I want.
Also use Spotify (free) but added a Android Auto receiver to the USB port so I don't have to mess with any cords. https://amzn.to/40aC176

I gave up trying to figure all that stuff out and just signed up for a year of YouTube Music for $100 and I can download pretty much any music ever recorded. I have a kick-ass library of all my favorite songs and it's playable offline. I just plug my phone in to the Maverick and proceed to jam. Easy peasy. 😬
Amazon Music is another good source 👍

Thanks for the tip. Does it come with Prime or is it a stand alone subscription?
I believe it’s $12/mo. for the unlimited version. There is a free version with Prime ☺

Assuming you already have the audio files on a USB stick in one of these formats.
• MP3, M4B, WMA, PCM, WAV, AAC, APE, and FLAC

You will be able to plug in directly, then navigate to the radio and click "Sources"
One of those options will be the name of your USB stick and once you select, you'll be presented with media controls like play, pause, fast forward, etc.

I dug out a usb drive full of music so I could try this out, then remembered I don't have a maverick anymore :ROFLMAO:

Is it hard to navigate? My old mazda could do that but it was a 2014 and the interface was all but unusable. Ford's interface is newer and worlds better.

Dave Allen, There is a lot of useful information in this thread. I hope it is not too complex.
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/issue-using-usb-thumb-drive.37203/

I can summarize by saying you need start by "Ripping" the music from a CD to a computer, which of course, requires a computer that has a CD drive. The simplest way is to use Windows Media Player to rip, assuming you have a Windows 10/11 PC. If so, this would be a guide:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/burn-and-rip-cds-235021d5-e1c7-8616-4efd-4f4965fe6b91

The Ford system is compatible with most formats. People choose MP3 the most, just keep it at a setting that is V0 or 320Kbps for a good sound quality. Most software for ripping usually does a good job of tagging the files (song name, artist name, album name, track number, etc. )
Once you have the files saved on a PC, then you copy them over to a USB thumb drive. 1 drive is probably all you need. The folder structure can be important depending how you want to playback. If you choose random, it doesn't matter, but otherwise, the Ford system will play them in alphabetical order unless you make a playlist, which can be a headache.

For that reason, it may be best to put a track # at the lead of each track title and sort them into folders for each album.

subscribe to apple music, tell sire who you want to hear and she takes it from there
I've had Macs since the original in 1984, and have been all Mac 3except for ma chines bought for FreeBSD and Linux (yes, I've really never owned a windows machine, although I had the original phone).

I took the free Apple Music trial when I bought something, and my conclusion was that apple needs to buy pandora, Spotify, or whatever .

The algorithm is painfully bad. For example, within half an hour, starting with Merle Haggard, it spiraled to *only* Gospel from him! And other absolute failures.

On top of that, it, without asking, converted the entire music llibrary on that computer to its own format on a one-way trip! (fortunately, it had been copied over from a unix machine). And by one-way, I mean that not only can you not put it back, but you can't play it once you cancel Apple Music, or go too long without an internet connection, or . . .

And even. once you cancel, and re-import your music, it still prompts you, repeatedly, for your Apple Music password every time you launch it.

So while I have apps almost everything (except watch; I hate having a watch on my wrist sand the way it focuses me on time!),no Apple Music subscription for me.

81 YO who needs help.
Have a 23 Lariat. We are leaving on a long road trip and have music we enjoy. I will transfer my beloved music (Eagles, Bread, Fleetwood Mac, etc) to Flash drives and don't know how to play them. Can anyone please assist an old Vet? Thank you
It should be pretty simple. Put your MP3 files on a thumb drive. Plug the drive into the USB port on the dash just to the lower left of the center near the console. After it is installed, on the radio, select "Sources" and you should see the USB drive listed. The interface isn't great, but it works.

iPhone plugged in directly - Music, Podcasts, & Waze navigation all work pretty well with the Mav.
Some glitches at times - unplug and re-plug or turn Mav off and on - problem resolved. I have not figured out how to use an old iPod with my Mav as of yet - the iPod is so old that is is not recognized.
