Just wondering if anyone has been experiencing issue's with the Mav 8 spd transmission. My 2023 Mav XLT AWD ecoboost seems to have a trans issue going from 1st to 2nd. It seems a little herky jerky trying to make that transition. In other words it's not real smooth. My truck is new so I haven't talked to the dealer about it yet. Plenty of warranty time left. Just wanted to drive it a bit more before I approach the dealer about it. Curious if this is widespread or just specific to my vehicle.

I have not personally had any issues. But one thing to note with modern cars is that the transmission is adaptive. Over the course of the first bit of driving the transmission mapping will adapt according to how you drive. During that time it may have a hiccup or two and that can be normal.

don't everyone panic but my stepson reports a few 8f35s have been in for repair. most common trans with the 2.0L.

for gearheads only

The 8F35 is what scares me of messing with the Cobb AP because it has TCM mapping that removes the 4th gear lockout and changes shifting behavior.

Adding power and changing mapping sounds like a bad idea for the 8F35 but then I see @Fast Mavericks beating the crap out of his 8F35 and it's holding up fine.

So long as we drive it like a racecar we will be good, seeing how strong it seems to be for some of the guys who are eeking all of the power they can out of the motor.

I just got my Burger JB4 and don't plan on stopping there! Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I beat the crap out of mine and no issues. It has been beat on since mile 4, it now has 23k. I do not believe in Fords weak break in procedure. Every new vehicle i have has been driven hard because well thats how they are going to be driven. If they break they break, thats what the warranty is for.

These gearboxes like to get out of 1st very quickly. So if there's any throttle modulation directly after taking off, the 1-2 shift may be interrupted by changes in throttle position. As long as it doesn't do it *every time* you start and stop, I wouldn't think too hard on it.

Depending on how much it has been driven, The computer may still be learning your driving style. Huh, what he said.
I have only driven my Mav for 1,200 miles so maybe it's still in learning mode ? I have been pretty easy with it up till now. I suppose getting on it wouldn't hurt once in a while. Thanks for the responses.

actually, you don't have to enable the transmission tuning option. you can use their 87, 91, or 93 maps with or without it.

or you could install a device that doesn't do anything at all to the transmission tuning, like a JB4.

Leaving my downhill driveway in the morning, my transmission often gets a little clumsy from 1st to 2nd and my FX4/4K only has 1.400 miles on it.

I do agree these trucks do not like to hold their gears. I’m hoping when I add Sports mode via Forscan it will hold gears better!

I really miss my manual.
