8 Speed Auto Transmission problems

I came across this post on the F-150's having the same issue with their 10 speed, which led to a class action lawsuit being filed.

Almost 2000km's since replacement and all seems good so far.

Class action lawsuit was filed...Less than a thousand vehicles were affected, less than 300 of which were F-150 and Ford estimates less than 3% of these actual have a loose bolt that needs to be fixed. In contrast, Ford sells between 500k-750k F-150s a year. All vehicles are still under warranty and a stop sale order on new vehicles and voluntary recall have been issued for the vehicles potentially affected...

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't concerned about the class action being filed but more so that the 10 speed in the F-150's was experiencing the same issues the 8 speed in the Maverick\Bronco\Escape was exhibiting. Still not sure what the route cause or link is to the issue I had, with these transmissions.

Similar symptoms. Different issue. Different transmission. Different powertrain. Less than 0.1% of vehicles affected. Ford is taking care of it. All is right in the world.

I think mine is just the usual 4k stuff... lots of people saying theirs shifts differently than a non 4k model in the low end, but I did have the dealer look into it and the TSB on it. They said parts are on order with no updates and no ETA - which means never. I'm going to try an push for a replacement for that reason and try another dealer.

As I am currently in the process of getting my transmission replaced due to a defect (slipping, accelerating from a stop issues) and reading a recent post, curious how many others have had a similar issue and not posted about it, and if this may be a larger issue.

Mine has been good for over 12K miles so far. I have been told by a reliable person that the 8 speed transmission used in the ecoboost models is not rated to handle all the torque the engine can produce. that is why there is torque management that causes a slight pause in upshift at moderate to high power acceleration. I don't know why Ford built a truck that cannot handle the engine output correctly. No firm upshifts here!
