The way I see it is if people on this forum are having lots of issues imagine all the ones that don't post on forums that are probably having the same issue.
Or all the ones with zero issues who do not post! Issues are reported at a much higher rate than non-issues, usually. I really hate to hear that anyone is having problems with the Maverick! So far, I've not had any issues, thankfully. But, because of this forum, I, at least, know some things to look out for!

Yep they sped up the design process on the part about vehicle look and capability inside and out, bed size, flex bed, options, fabrics, etc. If anything, this new development idea allowed them to get it into mule testing form from markerboard and sketch concept much faster, allowing approprate testing in a shorter overall development cycle

The drivetrain was out of an escape. Already developed. Your post falls flat

I wonder what percentage failure rate of the air bags and seat belts would be acceptable to FORD and Forum Members?

I think they already went through some of that with Takata airbag modules, along with other companies that used them.

The article actually states maverick took 3 years for development, the 20 months was saved because of the existing platform. Ford is probably exaggerating the 20 month thing, as no OEM's are pushing 5 years for development of an ICE/hybrid design, even with a new platform.

Given all the common components that make up the Mav, even three years is pretty average, certainly not industry-leading efficiency.

I am thinking about dropping the maverick hybrid with 3k miles on it. I absolutely loved mine too, but I absolutely must have a reliable vehicle.

When I was accelerating onto a road, probably at about 60-70% power my maverick's engine stopped working. It flashed "stopped safely now". The problem was, I was in traffic and in the middle lane. I also got stuck at a light. When I came to a stop at the light it shut off completely, I couldn't turn it back on, I couldn't even shift it into drive or neutral to push it. After a few minutes i was able to get it started again, but only in full electric mode so that I could limp to the side of the road.

I have never even accelerated to 100% with this truck, never towed anything, and I normally drive it like a grandma to get the best mpg, so I have really babied it. Very upsetting experience. Makes me worried about future reliability. Looks like this has happened to other people as well, waiting on the dealership to provide me with some details on what is wrong.
I truly feel for you, Hopefully the dealership will be able to diagnose the problem and fix it. It’s part of the reason I chose the ICE because I wasn’t entirely sure Ford had the tech down pat.

Sorry to hear about your Maverick issue. I for one have a XL EB FWD that was built 3/9/22 and it has been flawless so far. Honestly it has been more and better than expected. I hope it continues to be reliable, comfortable, and fun to drive. I hope that many others find their Maverick to be the same.

It's a new vehicle made in a supply chain constrained world.

There will be issues with some vehicles that don't show up no matter how much testing they do.

It sucks if you happened to get the one in ten thousand defect on yours. But it's not because they didn't test thoroughly or rushed the process.

Hopefully it gets fixed. And soon.
Off topic, but tonyinsd, what dealership did you buy your maverick from?

Mossy. If you get the add on alarm system they sell, make sure they complete the set up before you drive off the lot.
Good to know. That's where I'm getting mine too. Mind you, I'm only a pre-order for a 2023, so I have a painfully long wait still.
