2x6 at 54 1/4. It fits, I just think I want a taller one. Maybe 2x10? Might just stack a 2x4 over it. Don't know yet. Anyways, just sharing in case anyone wanted to see the 2x6 specifically. Going to paint whatever I use a matte black or maybe some type of bed liner spray if I can find some.

I cut and put in a 2x10 in mine but it is too heavy to lift out easily. I'm going to take some 2/4s and build a divider and use some old left over screen door screen. Should be a lot lighter and easier to lift out.

Awesome options.

I did a 2x10, angle on top corners to clear bed/bed cover, a tight fit into slot. I wrapped the Board with floor rubber matting. No noise at all. Decent look. Those are nails that you see. I put spray adhesive under it, but its not strong enough to be permanent.

2-2x8s work perfectly with my BAK Flip MX4 tonneau cover. The two pieces are jointed together with Velcro strips and will be painted black. Confirmed that cut length is precisely 54-1/4”.

2 x 6 with handles cut out and sprayed with Rustoleum bed liner. Added felt pads on ends to keep snug.

I have a Hard drop in bedliner and I measured 53 1/2" between the slots for a 2x6. Anybody with a drop in put a 2x4 or 6 yet, if so whar size did you have to cut it. 54 1/4 will not fit.

This is why I'll be going with a kiln dried 2x8. Much lighter.

Round off all the corners. I did that with mine and yo can wedge it in
I used 2 x 10 54.25" and it didn't fit with the trim. I rounded the corners as you suggested and it worked but that length and height is a helluva lot of wood. Thinking that black recycled lumber no more than 2" x 8" is what I'd like. Now to find it . . .
