So much for all vehicles! So much for Ford's cheap little truck...
It wouldn't but they always try and strong arm people. He said I was the first to not sign.... Love my truck to pieces any way but everyone's got a price... Lolthey don’t want the competition. I doubt it would hold up in court anyway.
Yes, it is a poor outlook for the manufactures if they are not smart enough to adjust with the current conditions. Just sit back and do nothing and see what happens or make changes as needed to remain profitable. That is what is known as good management. From Ford's perspective, production in Mexico (Mavericks, Bronco Sports, Mach-e) will be drastically reduced. Any sales incentives will be eliminated. Prices will be raised. Doesn't look good for consumers or the auto makers.
I loved my 1986 B2000 extended cab, was my alltime favorite truck until my 2023 Maverick. B2000 replaced my totally worn out 1977 Courier. Funny how the small truck world has evolved, first Mazda made their own trucks and Ford courier, then Ford made the Ranger and B series Mazda's and then both started making their own.Should help move those delayed 2024s.
Why do you dreamers think autos built in the US will be cheaper to build. First of all the large difference in wages, and then the benefits, and then all the multi- million dollar plants that will have to be built. It's not going to happen. This is why they moved there in the first place.Hopefully this will cause more vehicles to be built in the US,creating more jobs for US citiizens, and eventually lower vehicle prices.
How do you make a long-term strategic plan for a series of random policy changes? You come up with a long term strategic plan and implement it. Could be that 25 percent (or more) might be for the next 3.5 years or longer. Could be a new admin comes in and gets rid of the tariff. Could be new admin comes in, gets rid of tariffs, and then increases corporate taxes. Ford doesn't seem to have a big concern about losing $20B+ on their EV investment so maybe they abandon that losing proposition and retool the EV plants and bring back manufacturing from other countries, writing off their EV losses and using the 'savings' (or lack of future EV lo$$es) for their retooling efforts.
they don't think it will be cheaper to build them here - but if the difference is 'Mexico + 25 percent tariff vs USA + 25 percent cost increase but with thousands of more USA jobs then the USA move would seem to be the right way to go.Why do you dreamers think autos built in the US will be cheaper to build. First of all the large difference in wages, and then the benefits, and then all the multi- million dollar plants that will have to be built. It's not going to happen. The initial press release touted its starting price as $19,995.00. That's what peaked my interest. I paid 32 grand for mine.No it was a $21,495 truck - barebones, 4 model years ago.
All F-150s are built to a $30k price point. They are cheaply built to a $30k point. Nobody should ever pay more for an F-150 beyond their base MSRP price from 2021!!!!
Dreamers? Do you mean Americans? "Dreamers" said the Canadian. Henry Ford did have a dream that really started something big, we just have to keep it profitable while pulling the work back from Mexico and Canada. Production was outsourced to take advantage of the less fortunate and increase corporate profits. Why do you dreamers think autos built in the US will be cheaper to build. First of all the large difference in wages, and then the benefits, and then all the multi- million dollar plants that will have to be built. It's not going to happen. you take your best shot and move on. Same with EVs - they made a strategic move to go full throttle on EVs...and lost. Trump said the 25 percent is not being changed (who knows...?) while he's in office - so that's 3.5 years, so the Car cos need to think long term and realize that at any given point in time they can be assessed penalties for their non-US man'd products vs. bring the man'ing back to the US and paying the higher labor costs. Of course in 3.5 years if a new admin then the tariffs could be dropped but....do you want to protect yourself from the whims of politicians or do you want to (try to..) protect yourself by just moving it all back in house, incurring the higher labor costs and moving on, taking any future tariffs off the tableHow do you make a long-term strategic plan for a series of random policy changes?
Same here 20K, 5 passenger, and 30+ MPG gathered my initial interest. 40+ with the Hybrid and was a big incentive to take a gamble on a new Ford mini truck. I bought a MY22 XL Eco and traded it for a MY24 XL Hybrid. I was and have been happy with both. The initial press release touted its starting price as $19,995.00. That's what peaked my interest. I paid 32 grand for mine.
