I wouldn't worry about it.
When the engine is running there is about 2 quarts of oil circulating through the engine leaving 3.5 quarts in the oil pan.

My '22 Bronco Sport would do the exact same thing. With a 5.5 quart fill and oil filter it would be 1/4" above the top hole on the dipstick. Put 5 quarts in it it and it would be 1/8" from the top of the crosshatch area. Ran it with 5 quarts.
agree.

3rd. Just warm it, put it up on ramps. Drain and change filter. Put in new oil. Certain on the 5 1/2quarts unless the 5 was an over filled jug.
3rd oil change, and you've never experienced this before? It should read the same, every time, if you do it consistently. You would be the only one to know why it's different this time.

Mine is exactly on the top dot every time, 5.5 qts.

If it was my Engine I’d drain mine down a bit, I like mine between the lines.
Going around curves fast with too much oil could cause your crank to contact the oil load and foam it up. Your oil pump could possibly suck up some air, foamy oil. That could cause a bearing to be oil starved.

Oil pump Cavitation is not good.

It might matter if someone was planning to get past a quarter million miles on their engine.

528,000 trouble free miles out of my 2008
2.7 Ltr 4 banger Taco.
I was meticulously careful and never overfilled my oil pan.
Just sayin’
My dealer overfilled my 22 XLT, was 1/2 inch over figured they put the full 6 in, made them remove it. I always check before leaving lot. I also always mark one tire when I get my tires rotated had a dealer tech say he forgot to do it after I saw a scratched wheel I had in the same place, had 2 things on RO, rotate tires and oil and filter he forgot? Never went back. That's what happens when you hire techs from Jiffy lube.
Dealers cant get good help because there CHEAP. Half hour for oil change and half hour to rotate tires, maybe in a perfect world if vehicle is on the lift already, sometimes it takes a half hour to find the vehicle in lot or its blocked in.

When I did my first oil change on my 23 hybrid XLT I put in the 5.7 quarts called for. My dip stick was like OP, a little over. I now put in 5 1/2 quarts and it is right at the top fill mark. ??
Coming up on my next oil change soon.

Serious question here. How are you guys measuring the 0.5 quart (1 pint) or 0.7 quart? Are you eyeballing a measuring cup which is inaccurate? Or guestimating based on the weight of the bottle of oil? Iask because I used points for the first 2 changes and both times the level was at the top hole in the dipstick. Also keep in mind the dipstick is not a machines part but is a stamped part. Tolerance for hole location could be a contributing factor.

The side of the 1 quart bottles of Motorcraft oil have a sight "glass." I dump in a 5 quart jug, then I add in a 1 quart bottle until I have 16 ounces left in it. That's how I get my 5.5 quarts.

With most automobile engines, the oil fill isn't critical as long as you don't overfill more than a quart or underfill less than a quart.
Your engine doesn't really care about a few ounces either way, but if you do, set it exactly to full so you can sleep at night.

'24 FX4 with the exact same issue. 5.7 quarts is way over (1/4 inch) 5.5 quarts is slightly over (1/8 inch). After my first oil change at the dealer I probably overreacted to the overfill but at the time I thought it might be a quart over. I asked them nicely to drain some which they did. Of course, after the drain the oil level was just barely above the minimum lol. I had a hunch this would happen and had purchased a quart of 5w-30 ahead of time. Now I do my own oil changes and use 5.5 quarts and save .5 for the next cycle. I am about to cross 40k miles with zero powertrain issues, so far.
