OK I’m confused (my normal state). I’ve read the Ford Authority article on 2025 MY Maverick Hybrids getting the ‘new’ HF55 electronic constant velocity transmission with higher torque capacity as standard fare in both FWD and AWD hybrid Mav’s (superseding the HF45 CVT in 2022-2024 Mav’s). And that the HF45’s will continue to be manufactured ‘for a few more years’.

2025 Ford Maverick Transmissions: Everything You Need To Know

So I’m looking at a new 2025 hybrid FWD XL for purchase. And I stumbled on a Corpus Christi TX dealer with 2 x 2025 XL hybrids for sale (both with Feb. 2025 invoice dates), identically optioned (trailer hitch receiver, CoPilot 360). But the window sticker descriptions have me wondering what CVT (HF45 or HF55) they actually come with.

Maverick #1 – invoice date 02/07/2025, price level code 545. This is evidently before a base price increase by Ford. The base price shown is $26,550.00. And in the Vehicle Description, 2.5L Hybrid Engine, Continuously Variable Trans.

Maverick #2 – invoice date 02/25/2025, price level code is 550 (post-price increase). Base price shown is $26,995.00 (a $445.00 bump). But the Vehicle Description now shows 2.5L Hybrid Engine, Power-Split Electric CVT.

I’d like to assume that ALL 2025 Mav Hybrids now come with the new HF55 and that for some unknown reason Ford decided to change their Monroney sticker wording - but – something tells me the vehicle description was changed for a reason.

Any insights? Looking for something more definitive than opinions.

All 2025 hybrids have the HF55 transmission, but interesting that the window stickers are different.

EDIT: It appears Ford cannot decide what to call it. Mine has a third descriptor. This might be the most Ford thing ever

I also would not worry about the base price as Ford has been and will continue to raise prices mid-model year.

Ok thanks. Very weird, so at least 3 different Monroney sticker descriptions.

So a couple questions for you:

1. On your window sticker, what's the Invoice Date?
2. On your doorjamb Safety Compliance Certification Label, what's your Transmission Code? My understanding from a 2022 Maverick Identifications code doc is that the HF45 trans code is 5. So yours with the HF55 should be something different than 5.

I'd say the most recent dated sticker is a better description - at least it would probably cause a person to ask what that is.

Where as calling it just a CVT or spelled out is just asking for negative connotations without a question even asked.

Of course with a name like Power Split device, they are hoping the salesperson can describe it decently and not just say CVT, or emphasis the E part of eCVT.

I noticed reviewing 22-24 stickers many other phrases seemed to have 3-5 versions used too unless a trademark one.

Many thanks for the clarifications. Like baseball, it's hard to tell the players without the (correct) scorecard. That's the value of forums like this.

Some other tumblers that dropped in place for me re: 2025 Mav Hybrid specs versus 2022-2024 versions:

1. I don't tow much other than occasional dump runs/neighbor move help with my 6x12 alum. utility trailer, but I do look at Ford's trailer tow guides for general SAE J2807 info. The 2022-2024 Mav Hybrid FWD-only specs and tow data (with the HF45 CVT slush-box) note a 2.91:1 final gear ratio (axle ratio). And the 'recommended' Frontal Area Limitation for the Mav Hybrid was 20 ft2 (the same as Escape/Bronco Sport/Edge w/o trailer tow package).

2. The 2025 Mav is different - the 2025 Tow Guide lists a final gear ratio of 3.37:1 (which must reflect the new HF55 CVT). And strangely the recommended Frontal Area Limitation per SAE J2807 testing is now an oddball 29 ft2 - not 20 or 30, but 29. Go figure. I also wish Ford would update their 2025 Mav spec sheet on the Ford Media site, it still shows a final gear ratio of 2.91:1 for the hybrid.

Anyway, once I finally physically visit Ford dealers to look/test-drive at '25 Mav hybrids I'll check the doorjamb stickers and better see an 'E' trans code.

That is what they call it, that is what they should put on every hybrid window sticker.

Everything I’ve read says that if it’s a 2025 Maverick hybrid, it has an HF55 transmission.

The only part that is confusing is the motor authority article that stated that Ford will make the HF45 until April 2028.

If they said that the HF45 was discontinued in 2024, it would be really clear that they are using the HF55 in all 2025 hybrid Mavericks, right?

So why keep making HF45’s? From what I can see, the 2025 escape also switched from the HF45 to the HF55.

However, multiple Lincoln dealership websites state that the 2025 Lincoln Corsair uses the HF45 transmission. So that may be the explanation of why HF45’s are still being produced.
