After hitting many online parts ordering sites, I chose Auto Nation Parts (.com) because they had the most reasonable shipping to N. California.

Part: $20.26
Shipping: $4.88
Tax: $1.47

Total: $26.61

Pretty much all the other places wanted > $11.00 just for shipping. Part price was within $1 of each other.

I have been looking more into this issue. I first notified my Ford Salesman to let him know that this part was missing. I haven't heard back from him.

I then found the damper assembly part in the Ford Parts Catalog. Ford charges about $28.00 plus shipping.

Here is the mystery, I fully opened the glove box, like I was accessing the Cabin Air filter. to have a look. I could not figure out how the damper assembly mounts to the interior structure. There were no holes or clips, etc. where I could see how to mount the part.

Has anyone installed the damper assembly on their truck that had it missing from the Factory? I would appreciate an answer on how it is mounted, even pictures. I am ordering the damper from Ford but need help with the installation.

It’s not in my 24 Lariat Tremor. Dated 2/24. Either they had a supply problem and run the trucks through or some engineer decided they didn’t need it. I don’t see the harm. Maybe they were getting broken by the dealers disconnecting them in service. Who knows.

Yep you guys are correct... Was fully expecting to have to remove it from the glove box but it wasn't there... So I contacted the dealer I bought it from while I was on the phone I was sent to just everyone but the used car manager to help me with my problem, finally I just asked to speak to the service manager explained my situation and sent him the pic and explained it looks like the damper is missing of course he said he would have to get with Ford cooperate and get back to me... Well he did about a week later and said that part does not come on the maverick!! I responded really are you kidding me and explained that there are several different videos on the net showing how to change the cabin filter and you can clearly see it in the videos posted Its also listed as being in the 2023 Ford parts listing part # LJ6Z-7806200-A and it was called a damper assembly glove box support.. Crickets was all I got from him finally he said again he would have to again check and get back to me. Told him to just forget it I would just buy one myself....
So the dealer was successful in solving his problem (you with a low profit margin warranty repair). Instead of going out of his way to solve a customer's issue.

Will you be going back to this dealer for your next vehicle purchase?

HSBII:

Thanks for the photo. The damper looks like it clips to a peg in the rear and is bolted in the front. I saw a peg while looking in the glove box area that wasn't being used.

On the rear it clips on the last hole of the damper as seen in the pic, and the front just clips to the glove box...

In reality. Ford is not going to shutdown the assembly line, on a highly successful vehicle, if they run out of a non-critical part. Especially if the customer may never notice.
They could do better in notifying the customer of the missing damper.
For the dealership to lie and say the truck does not come with one. 🤬
I remember when one of my Taurus's was in for a recall. The dealership said they did not have the part, and the car would have to stay for a few days. I called the dealership's parts and asked for the part as if I were buying it. Low and behold they had a part in stock. My wife drove me immediately to the dealership. I had the parts guy get me the part.
My wife brought the salesman and I got the service manager back to the parts department and we had a pow wow. I got the car back in two days and I got a loaner .

Good luck.

My '24 Lariat is missing it and I'd like to have it, but I'm not sure I want to spend $30 to replace it.

Disconnecting them is a little bit tricky as the slotted nipple has to be squeezed and I have to use needle nose plyers. I think some are prying them off with a screwdriver and breaking something. The little lightweight plastic tabs holding the filter access door closed are apparently being broken frequently also. So take care opening them.

From the posters responses, it sounds like it does not come on 2024 models. So maybe your dealer was correct for your model year, at least as far as he went.
I have a 2022 hybrid Lariat which does have one.
