Be aware of this when you buy the Hybrid. At some point the lifters may need replacement if there is a problem. There is no adjustment. A super expensive cost due to tear down.

Called , Direct-Acting Mechanical Bucket Lifters. (DAMB) For damn expensive! Had I known at the time of purchase I would have passed. What about you?
Most OHC car and motorcycle engines use the bucket and shim valve system. There are some hydralic OHC lifters, I think Porshe 928 was the first but the bucket and shim system is so reliable it is not used much. I've worked on Aston Martin engines where you adjusted valve clearance by matching the valves!

Most overhead cam engines have solid lifters. Most Honda and Acura engines have solid lifters. They recommend checking them at 100,000 miles when you change the timing belt. I think someone is crying wolf without doing any research.

The 2.5 hybrids direct acting mechanical buckets come in different sizes and that is what get replaced. There are no shims. The 2.0 eco boost Maverick was direct acting mechanical buckets up till 2024. The 2025 2.0 is now hydraulic lash adjusters with roller followers

...and the # of miles I’ll drive for any vehicle I own (less than 100k)...
This made me think - I am getting conservatory 60% electric, so if the truck's odometer says 100k then that would be about 40k on the ice, or alternatively if there were 100k on the ICE then the truck would have about 250k on the odometer!

I don't think it's 60/40 (electric/ICE ratio) for everyone. Depends on your driving style and road environment. Probably closer to 50/50 for overall average.

It is very common for the manufacturer to recommend(command) that fasteners not be re-used whenever disturbed from new. It is also as common or moreso for independent mechanics to re-use the fasteners without problem. The exception are the torque-to-yield head bolts, which are supposed in most cases to be a one-time-tighten fastener.
Yes, agreed. That said, I've noticed a trend in new vehicles to have truly single use fasteners. Plastic retention clips on hoses that have to be cut, and truly cannot be reused for example. I haven't dug enough into the Maverick to know if it has any of those.

The Fiat SOHC and DOHC engines of the 60's thru 80's had bucket tappets with interchangeable shims as well which were easy to service
Wow. I made it six decades before I ever encountered "Fiat" and "easy to service" in the same sentence!

I've found that ford's electrical connectors break down after a couple of decades and need patching or replacement if you stare too hard; why should mere fasteners be reusable?

I thought Miller made them...
No, Miller makes a beer/champagne hybrid.

😜

Maverick Hybrid has an Atkinson Cycle engine which has better fuel efficiency than an Otter cycle engine.
Spellcheck changed “Otto” to “Otter” - be we know what you meant

Many of those were recognized (probably because he's seen plenty) and pointed out.
I think he made a comment about single-use bolts too, but that may have been when working on a Toyota, because I'm sure he didn't recognize them by sight.

I'm pretty close 60/40 other direction annoyingly.
Too flat in general.
