I live in the WNC mountains. We have a 3,000 foot climb over the mountains to TN near my house (I-26). The Ecoboost makes that climb a joy - it isn't even working hard. This thing has more power than any normal person will ever need, outside of maybe max towing up a mountain.

The one thing I miss from my old Ranger is a standard transmission. Not a fan of this gear hunting automatic. I can say that Eco mode calms it down.

All-in-all, highly recommend the Ecoboost. I'm approaching 30,000 miles. Very few Ecoboost problems have been reported since I joined MTC two years ago. I'd wager the ratio is easily 100 to 1 that most problems reported on MTC are hybrid this or hybrid that. No insult or trolling of hybrid owners intended - just reporting what I've observed.

Rips the doors off a 2018 Tacoma. I get my worse gas mileage when it rains. I floor the AWD at every light,

I would advise NOT to use the tranny for braking. Brake pads are cheap, trannys are not. Brakes are made for braking, trannys are not.
Interestingly enough, when going downhill with the cruise control on, the truck will start engine/tranny braking when you hit 5 mph over the set speed. Even in ECO.

Good to know.
This is the type of information I am looking for so I will know what to expect. Otherwise it is going to be a learning curve.
there is no learning curve. It’s an engine. Drive it.

I have no issues with power and acceleration. When I test drove it I really liked how much power it had. Way better power compared to my 2002 Explorer with a 4.0L V6 (non-turbo).

I even like the start/stop unlike most others I've seen post here. I had a hybrid before, so I'm used to having no engine running at a light. I have found if you anticipate the light, you can simply ease up on the break and the engine will be started without any lag to get going. Even if I don't do that I barely notice the delay.

Just like with a hybrid, learn it's behavior, and adjust yours to match and it's a very good experience.

If there is a Thread about this already, sorry.

A lot of the you are driving the Maverick with the 2.0 EcoBoost engine. And I would like to get some information/insite on how this engine runs. What to expect from it. Will it get out of the way if the driver needs to get going right now?

Example, the entrance ramps to X-way are fairly long here where I live. I do not do 35 mph until I get in the #1 lane and then get up to speed. I get up to 70 mph plus before I get halfway down the ‘get on’ ramp to match traffic. My Dodge 3.5 v6 does a good job of doing that. But will this 2.0 EcoBoost engine be able to do the same??

Has anyone had engine problems? This story at www.dailydot.com, ‘Ford Escape’: Mechanic issues warning on any car with an EcoBoost engine. Here’s why, https://www.dailydot.com/news/ecoboost-engine-car-warning/
The article is about where coolant leaks into the engine cylinder. Coolant infusion, especially in these engines.

Now let's go the other direction, I am coming up to my ‘get off’ ramp, it is fairly long, and the v6 will slow the van down a good amount before I need to apply brakes. I do not come up to a STOP sign/light and slam on the brakes like I have seen other driver do. Sometimes I will down shift to the next gear. Will the Maverick let me do this?

Thanks
Plenty of power and good on gas. The only thing I don't like is it sounds like a sewing machine, especially after driving my hemi ram with aftermarket exhaust.

Oh, there's a learning curve. Prior to my Maverick (which I just got on Monday), I've exclusively owned RWD V8 vehicles. There's definitely a different feel to power delivery with this engine. It is nowhere near as smooth in acceleration as my V8s (but the power is definitely adequate). It's going to take some getting used to, and I'll have to explore the different modes as well. So far (I've barely driven 50 miles) I've only used "Normal."

On my 3rd year with 3 trips from Florida to Ohio, this truck has it all, handles well as good as my Miata and that is saying a lot, accelarates at the drop of a dime, and really can't think of anything bad to say about it.

This is my 4th Ford in a row.... 2010 Edge with 3.5, 2015 Edge with 2.0 turbo, 2020 Escape with 2.0 turbo, Now 2024 Maverick 2.0 turbo. 2015 Edge with the 2.0 turbo had much more power than the 2010 3.5 especially noticed it when towing. Towed with all of them and the 2.0 towed my clamshell snowmobile trailer a hell of a lot better than the 3.5. Better gas mileage and more power. Each 2.0 I have had, had no engine issues, though I have noticed less turbo lag with each... Almost none with the Maverick. Put 60,000 to 80,000 on each. Not towed with the Maverick yet, new trailer in the garage waiting for snow. lol.

It pulls just fine. There isn't anything in the way of downshifting. I prefer a car that coasts instead of slowing down and using brakes, but to each their own.

I haven't been through all the replies but I have seen some stuff about the start/stop and mentions of shifting. Ford has done some things with the transmission shifting/skip shifts and gearing that some people find....unpleasant. There are others who mention it feeling like it cuts throttle when you have the steering wheel turned beyond a certain point. So a hard acceleration off a side road while turning can result in it going zoom one time and another time hesitating because the wheel is turned slightly more. Once back past that tipping point it shoots off. No mentions of slip/traction/abs lights coming on like when TC kicks in. The complaints seem to be more from AWD owners. It may be wholly related to driving habits and what you're comparing it too. I decided it bothered me enough to put a tune on at 14k and hope for the best as to an engine warranty.

I have a 2024 Tremor with the 2.0 and I've driven the truck on the highway and locally while it's not a hemi it's more than adequate.
The gas mileage is reasonable no complaints.
Our other vehicle is a Jeep Wrangler JL with the V6, alas not the hemi, and the 2.0 compares very favorably in all circumstances.
I'm not sure which of our two vehicles would win in a drag race but my wife and I long ago left the drag racing faze of life.
The Tremor was the only Maverick I wanted so Hybrid wasn't an option, but I wouldn't have gotten it even if it came in the Tremor.
Nothing against Hybrids, we had a Prius, and it was great but prefer a full gasser.
