12 volt outlet is smoking adapters

I appreciate the info. Yea so this adapter lights up sequentially when on and at some point it will stop lighting up in sequence and just stay solidly lit. That’s when it stops working. I wanted one with an on off switch so I can turn my GoPro off or in whenever.

When it stays lit the voltage will be over 14.6, you will need one that reads higher to at least 15v to verify actual volts. I turn mine off by pulling it out about 1/8" (when light goes off) and later push in to turn on

I should have better stated my response. You will need one that deactivates at a higher voltage than 14.6v maybe 15 or 15.2v or just over max allowable charging voltage for your type of 12v battery installed. The charging voltage is apparently variable to furnish max allowed voltage but is reducible in the event battery temp becomes to high or becomes 98-99% charged to prevent over charging. 100% charge depending on individual batteries can be 12.85v on a 12v deep cycle battery. In any case I have seen 12.1-14.8v readings on my hybrid front power point. Also judging by the readings on your device it may turn off if you exceed 3amps at 5v or 2amps at 9v or what ever the 3rd rating is, I forget what that was. Or some equivalent draw. So check draw of your cam.

You can buy a name-brand that is frequently recommended by OEM companies, Anker, for a little more money. I have their USB C 40W dual-port PowerIQ 3.0 Type C PowerDrive III Duo. ($24).

I just bought an expensive mirrorless camera (Nikon Z 7II) and Nikon recommends Anker as a safe power bank to use with the camera. I hope this means the rest of their products are equally good!
