FYI,
If you have a 2022 with an ill fitting (doesn’t extend under the rubber door seal) headliner you may be able to have it replaced under warranty.

When going down long steep hills the hybrid uses battery charging to provide downhill resistance / braking. When the battery gets fully charged and cannot provide braking to slow down, the engine will come on to provide engine braking with fuel turned off. The engine provides braking like a Jake Brake, essentially an air compressor to slow you down. Built in exhaust brake sounds weird but works great. Well done Ford!
Good points. It's worth noting that in the hybrid section the manual uses the term "engine" when referring to the gasoline engine and "motor" when referring to the electric motor.

another secret is that if you are driving and someone switches your selector to park it does go into park, but first kills engine power and coasts to a stop...2L ECO w/4WD
Good to know. I'm starting to think the thread should have been 50 Secrets of the Maverick

While in "R" if you stop and open the driver's door, the vehicle will shift into "Park".
Mine does a quick double honk when doing this. Like “hey dingbat, I took care of this again”.

Yes, That's how it works... When the Electric "Motor" (Gen) can no longer slow the truck down because the battery is full, the gasoline "engine" comes on - without the gasoline! Most hybrid drivers have not experienced this (yet)...
We were coming out of the Rockies into Denver with the Power meter pegged, doing about 80. When the battery said - no more juice please, the gasoline engine comes on to help. This situation would never occur with the EB or any non-hybrid ICE. I thought something was wrong, why is the engine on??? but the owner's manual describes it as engine braking with fuel turned off.
Semi trucks use this type of engine braking to slow the mass and save the wheel brakes.
Another Maverick secret!

Going through some old notes and saw this. Most likely from an old thread, but I thought it worth repeating for any new members.

10 Secrets of the Maverick

  1. Your truck has a secret setting for "Police Dark Mode".
  2. Your truck has a secret setting for "Ambulance Mode".
Nope.

And definitely one that is rarely known. Many thanks for pointing this out.

You’re correct

Good to know. I would feel guilty though if I didn't remind members to try to limit their use of plastic water bottles due to the recent research about how micro particles of plastic are finding their way into our bodies. I think a better alternative would be stainless steel. Surely, someone here has a link to one that would fit.

Dang dude that things got more gap than David Letterman's two front teeth.

Mine will pop out every so often in one spot.

Same with the rubber underneath the passenger side windshield wiper that is supposed to redirect the water around the windshield. I always have to pry that back over the windshield.

Yea, you know they did a decent job replacing it with a new one but……
My 19 F-150 XL and my wife’s 19 Escape Titanium both have about 3/4” of headliner under the seal.
The new one is about 3/8” under the seal. Probably not ideal but much better than the original one.
The back doors were worse than the fronts! I
Probably age related but I can’t believe it took me this long to notice it.
Or, maybe it was okay and the recycled rainforest materials shrunk a little bit due to our hot Texas summers🤔
Anyway 🤞at this point.

We've had some great suggestions for bottles for the front doors, thanks all. It seems that 2.85" is the perfect diameter. What about the locations in the rear doors? I've noticed those require bottles with a larger diameter, but I don't have anything that fits and I haven't taken the time to measure.
