I haven't brought my Maverick back to the dealer once since I bought it.
Edited: Not even for the recalls yet.
I'm pretty sure the 3/36 warranty is expired.
On on rough roads, It has the infamous dash rattle
After the experience I had with my Toyota and the Takata airbags debacle.
I wasn't going to have the service department rip apart my dash over a rattle I can live with.
I bought the cheapest vehicle Ford sold.
I wasn't expecting *LTD quietness or a diamond cutting ride.

I totally agree with Glen, I would NEVER let a dealer rip my dash apart for ANY reason! (unless I dropped a winning million dollar lotto ticket down behind, then I’d have fun destroying it myself)!

Wondering how many of you guys with this problem have Mavs that live outside.
Cars and trucks SHOULD be designed to use outdoors. otherwise they are furniture. Every DD I have ever owned in 51 years of driving has sat outside year round and NONE of them had this issue.

Oh, I could not agree more, BUT, the times are changing and not for the best. Plastic deteriorates, discolors, cracks; headlight lenses turn yellow. Everything just seems to not hold up like it used to. After my 05 Ranger had to live outside for a few years, the fender flares turned almost pure white.

I am curious if that Granger 10/100,000 warranty would cover this problem.

Colors fade in the sun, I can accept that, we can only push physics so far.

But weatherstripping failing is just plain bad. You'd never see this on a cheap base model Toyota Yaris, for example. When Honda had issues with the Fit's weatherstripping they got ripped a new one, and promptly fixed it. My VW has sat outside for its whole 6 year life and it still looks new after a wash and wax.

IMO this is just one example of how Ford, and the American big 2.5, constantly confuse "inexpensive" with "cheap". Given how expensive Mavericks are now they really need to permanently fix this issue. That plastic isnt temperature or UV stable, so it shrinks and grows when exposed to the elements to the point that it cant stay together. That is a cheap design, the kind that got Ford and Chevy such bad names in the 70s with the likes of the pinto and chevette. My 91 needed new weatherstripping, after 30+ years. That's perfectly acceptable. But 2-3 years is just silly.

Hey everyone,

Wanted to see if anyone else has run into this issue yet. I noticed the rear window weatherstrip molding on my Tremor is actively splitting and separating right from the window frame on the Left an Right rear doors.

So it feels a bit early for rubber trim to be failing and falling apart like this already!

A couple of quick questions for the group:

  • Warranty: Has anyone had success getting this replaced under the standard factory 3yr/36k bumper-to-bumper warranty, or did the dealer try to write it off as "wear and tear"?
  • DIY Fix: If you've fixed this yourself?
Appreciate any insight or part numbers if you've got 'em!
Yes and yes. My '25MY Lariat did the same (earlier post in the forum) and it was replaced under warranty.

Has anyone with vent visors experienced this ? Just asking as I would be interested if I need to keep a closer eye on this issue.

....No I am NOT saying buy vent visors :)

Just so I'm on the same page.
We are referring to the rear door window trim/molding?

Yes I have EGR in channel vent/visors.
Weather strips/molding separation only happened on the rear passenger side. As I recall it was already that way when I installed the visors. Which was about a year and a half after I bought the truck.

Thanks for that - I went back and zoomed in on the pic you posted and saw the horizontal line.
