I would basically look at that number as "reclaimed miles" that were used. My rav4 prime on the other hand actually has EV range. if it wasn't bad to not run the ICE for long periods of time I'd be able to EV only in that thing 90+% of the time because I'm often only driving ~20 miles round trip and the EV range is generally over 40 miles, sometimes 50.

Same deal with my Wife's Outlander PHEV. We drive it in EV mode most of the time. It's also got 40 miles of EV range which is enough to cover our local driving without burning any gas as long as we keep charging it at home.

The image isn't mine I just saw it on the forum but I was questioning the accuracy of the display yesterday on my Mav after driving 28 miles and 14 of those showed as electric? I know I'm missing something, the Jeep E plug in gets about 20 miles on a charge, this isn't a plug in and it's getting more??

Not too unique to see numbers like this. It all depends where and how you drive. This was mainly downhill towards our home from a church BBQ dinner in the foothills of a mountain down into the valley.

When we purchased our 2016 C-Max Energi we were worried about a big increase in our electric bill. The wife was working full time 5 days a week and had a 15-mile round trip commute each day. We only saw the electric bill go up around $5.00 to $8.00 dollars a month on balanced budget billing. Most days if she did not remote start the car, she would not even have the ICE kick in. It was rated for 20 miles per charge. She would 16 to 18 miles per charge and I could get 21 to 24 miles per charge. We still have it to tow behind the motorhome. It has just over 83K on it and show 78 mpg on trip two that we reset the day we picked it up. It has dropped to around 18 miles per charge but still gets great combined mileage. I do wish that our 2025 Maverick Hybrid was a PHEV. She now drives a 2025 Escape ST and she misses her hybrid. Could not find any new Escape hybrids when we went looking, only used ones, and for 2026 you cannot get the 2026 Escape in NY state.

The Maverick's hybrid battery capacity is around 1.1KWh, the Jeep's battery is around 10KWh. About 10 times larger. The Jeep can, in theory, go about 20 miles on one charge and is designed to go someplace and back without using the ICE engine (all electric mode). The Maverick might go 1 mile on a charge then run the engine for a while - in other words as you are driving along, the ICE engine is cycling on and off - the total might indeed be 50% of the miles on electric only but its just in a lot of little pieces. I get around 43mpg every time on mine and I'm very happy with it.

The readings are speculative and there are many variables in how it comes up with the totals. An example and I will take a photo next time I go up to Cloudcroft, a small mountain community about 15 miles from my home. Depending on trafiic I usually get about 28 mpg and only a couple miles on full electric. Coming down the mountain is a whole different story as I have recorded up to 101 mpg with about two thirds on full electric and it uses a lot of regenerative braking. The usual is about 89 mpg but the computer recalculates differently depending on distance and load. Also if you rest trip computer to zero before coming down the mountain it will be even higher. I have been impressed as even on long highway trips at over 75mph I can still hit 36 to38 mpg.

Yesterday I went about 10 miles and showed 99.9 mpg. It was all downhill. Last month I got 75mpg for a 26 mile trip, again all downhill from way N Scottsdale to S Scottsdale. 38mpg on the way up the hill. YMMV!

Yes it's possible and you're looking at it. The battery will regen as you go and provide electric propulsion whenever possible. That includes pure battery power and electric assist to the ICE, which reduces fuel consumption. A fully charged HV battery will get you 1-2 miles before depleting enough to start the ICE engine.

I can go ~3.5 miles on level ground at 25 MPH and under between engine starts.

On a downhill I have gone more than 9 miles between engine starts.

I found a road that I traveled 1.8 miles on without using the battery or ice!!!! It even had a small water crossing about halfway down which I used to switch from N to D to add charge to battery with Regen coasting and keep mph below 35 mph through the dip.

i have a similar commute. 24 miles round trip with 16 hwy 8 city and i average 50%. i took this pic just as trip 1 rolled over to zero at the 10k mark.

Perfect example of why even at 10k miles - engine and oil has only seen 5k.
