Edit: In some ways this hitch may be better than factory. Since it sits lower, it may allow you to open the tailgate with a trailer attached. With my trailer and factory hitch, if it was about half inch lower, I’d be able to open mine and not worry about hitting the trailer hitch by accident.
Huh? You still need to have the ball at the correct height for your trailer, you would need to use an insert with more rise, if the receiver was lower.

Thread Title is W R O N G !!!

It should say "Walker IS" Ford DEALERSHIP Installed my Hitch Incorrectly

I came to this thread because I wondered how the Ford assembly plant in Hermosillo Mexico Incorrectly installed a Hitch to find out it was not Ford but a Ford Dealership.

NOTE: They are not the same.

Please correct misleading thread title.
Actually came to say the same.

I'm hoping OP found their Maverick on the lot and didn't order it without one intentionally. Regardless, I see a lack of care from OP and then the dealership taking advantage of that.

The hitch was installed correctly. The OP purchased the wrong hitch and was misled by the dealership. Tough spot to be in.

I guess I should have done more research but the dealership told me it was after market but the same as the OEM. I didnt get a picture nor was I told which after market part it was just a price. I should have asked more questions but yes I was mislead into believing it was the same part.

I mean, I would be raising all sorts of hell as well but I just think you're in a tough spot getting the dealership to do anything. Definitely got a raw deal but you acknowledged to them it was aftermarket. Just a crappy situation to be in.

A good dealership would only sell the OEM hitch to begin with.

I believe the reason this particular aftermarket hitch sits lower than the actual Ford factory installed unit is that the aftermarket one does not require removing the rear brace or "crash bar" behind the rear bumper.

This hitch will function fine, the only problem I see is you lost some ground clearance at the rear of the truck. Most owners won't even notice the difference in ground clearance during normal use. A steep driveway exit/entrance might result in scraping the hitch on the pavement.

Every truck/hitch and trailer combination I've owned has had different ball height requirements due to tire sizes, actual trailer tongue height, truck hitch mounting point( bumper mount or frame mount) and of course wether the truck is lifted or lowered. Therefore I own several different configurations of rise/drop ball mounts.

One more point - the factory hitch, when ordered with the truck is only $100, but that same hitch installed by a dealer can cost you $1000 once you add the wiring and labor in. This leads me to ask what this dealer charged you for this particular aftermarket version.

The OEM they wanted to charge like $1200 and the aftermarket was $900.

Wow. Why would anyone order a truck without adding a $100 hitch?
1. There was no need for it at the time, or so we thought.
2. It wouldnt have mattered anyway when I ordered it as they cancelled the hitch on preorders of the Hybrid for 2022. So Even if I had it would have been removed.

Yeah, it's in all fields at all levels. It's really sad.

Ok. That makes sense.

Got it. You didn't think you needed a hitch, so you didn't order one.
Now it's becoming clearer.
I didn't realize Ford would cancel the hitch on a pre-order. I know they may have told folks that the truck would take longer if you wanted to keep the hitch and given the choice to cancel OR wait. Same thing they did with spray in bed liner.

Wow. Why would anyone order a truck without adding a $100 hitch?
Right.
I feel Ford should have made the hitch standard on all Mavericks and offer a $100 hitch delete option.

You got what you bought. You saved $300.
Other than in your words looking ghetto or aftermarket add-on.
It will serve the same purpose.
