I like the brighter headlights on my car so I can see more. Don't like when they are coming at me but I just look at the white line on the side of the road so they are not glaring in my eye. I hate the older yellowish looking headlights.

I like the brighter OEM style lighting whether it's LEDs or projector style LEDs even HIDs in a projector. The lights that tend to be more blinding to oncoming traffic are when people swap halogen and install aftermarket LED bulbs into a halogen housing that scatters light everywhere.

You see it mostly in lifted trucks and the truck owner never adjusted the headlights causing the light to blind the living shit out of anybody coming at them or driving in front of them. Most consumers aren't smart enough to realize headlights have a screw on them that can be adjusted to aim the headlight beam up or down as needed to keep from blinding other drivers on the road. Others just dont care.

You see it mostly in lifted trucks and the truck owner never reins the headlights causing the light to blind the living shit out of anybody coming at them or driving in front of them. Most consumers aren't smart enough to realize headlights have a leveling screw on them that can be adjusted to aim the headlight beam up or down as needed to keep from blinding other drivers on the road
Toddman....that is somewhat true regarding the lifted trucks...BUT...not sure you have noticed in the last year or so that the low beams on 80% of the trucks, SUV's and cars have gotten WAY brighter in the low beam position. It's like 5 out of 10 cars coming at me now that are literally blinding. I do get flashed in my stock height F-250 and in my Mav occasionally. There have been several articles written on this trend...most recently in Car and Driver. Again...it is NOT just lifted trucks that failed to re-adjust.

I remember being stationed in Florida in 1974 and having to get my vehicle inspected. One of the inspection points was for headlight adjustment. They would fix the adjustment during the inspection...at no charge, go figure.

If only Florida still had vehicle inspections! I don't know when they got rid of them, but I've been here since 1990 and they haven't had them. You should see what's out on the roads. Many years ago I got a new car and it was obvious the headlights weren't aligned properly. The dealership had no equipment for aligning them properly!

There are some awesome things coming or already here for headlights. One is highly pixelated lights, where they can be super bright, but individual elements are dimmed where the computer detects another vehicle. This is already in use in the EU. Last I read, which was some time ago, the US traffic safety authorities still did not allow them?

Mind you, that's probably a thousand dollar headlight.

Texas relaxed its vehicle SAFETY inspection requirements recently. It doesn't benefit anyone in the metro areas, since most of us still have to pay a fee and have emissions testing done once a year anyway. The major difference is that for a lot of the state, bald-tired, busted-light, unintentionally-coal-rolling hoopties are totally fine as long as they don't get caught. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, I don't know if this thread was intended as a question, or a rant - but I think the Maverick's headlights are fine. I've never been "flashed," but I also don't mess around with the auto high beams. If anything, I find the high beams useless. YMMV.

I’ve been flashed a couple of times and I don’t use the auto highbeams. I’ve been flashed solely because the lights are too bright from the factory.

I've been flashed a few times with my Maverick. Mostly when meeting someone on the brow of a hill. These drivers must have flunked geometry in high school.

Vehicle inspections are fine when the laws are written correctly using common sense. Unfortunately common sense is not so common any more. Up here the inspection laws are outrageously over the top. Friends of our who own a 5 year old or so RAV4 hybrid have been forced to replace their brakes twice already due to rust on the rotors in excess of 1/4". Kind of negates one of the bennies of owning a hybrid.

I remember well when Florida had safety inspections. I was stationed there with the Air Force in the late '70's and thought it was a better system than those I had previously experienced. Did not allow the local mechanic to gouge you for unneeded repairs or replacements nor allow his "good ol' boy" bias to let you slide by. It was run by the state at designated locations and even had systems you drove on and braked to check the brakes. Only big drawback was the time it took out of your day, I seem to remember having to allow for a half a day from work. Was usually completed with 1-2 hours including the wait in line IIRC. I'm really glad most of those inspections have gone away, but would like to see more enforcement of the requirements and maybe even spot checks instead.

In the world of modern OEM LED automotive headlights, the Mav is pretty average for LED reflectors. Proper aim adjustment is always a good idea, if you suspect a problem. The LED projectors on my wife's new Mach-E are much better. But again, at the price point for the Mav, no complaints. 🤠

Correction: you were flashed solely because someone else thought the lights were too bright from the factory, and they were wrong.

There are rants sprinkled around the forum where people think the Maverick headlights are useless because they are too dim. Everybody has a different level of tolerance, and I don’t concern myself with the extreme outliers.
