Great Truck but..... Issue with dash quality. Many vehicles and this never happened before.

at least 2 people replied already in this thread saying they did have dash covers, there is at least one link to one of them, and others using them said they have no issues.

based on that and also seeing prior instances of damaged interior plastic, I'm about 90% confident it was a cleaning agent, 9% it was a random aerosol (like insect repellent), and less than 1% chance it was the dashmat *by itself*.

there are marks from the dashmat but I think that's after whatever was sprayed / oversprayed started eating the plastic.
I totally agree with you but, we may never know. The OP Husky240 has yet to reply to any posts.

I’m just wondering if anyone else uses a dash cover. I have my Maverick coming in January or February and I’ve already bought a dash cover . Anybody else have the same problem?
My dash gets tacky in the hot weather. I protect it with a dash mat. I live in the desert Southwest. The interior of the truck can reach 140° plus degrees.
My Dash is still fine and the mat protecting it is fine too.

I think it's extremely unlikely that the OP comes back and says 'whoops my bad'.

Either going to never reply, or deny it.

The best 'issue' report to date is certainly this one, where we slowly uncover details from the OP including that he 'may have' forgotten to put the oil cap back on and continued to drive up after seeing and smelling burning oil. (But Ford made a dangerous truck that just randomly caught on fire!)

I'm in Vegas too and my dash hasn't ended up tacky at all. I'm wondering how many of these tacky dashes were from dealers putting on "protection" to upsell people.

Great point,
I remember people cursing Armor All for making a mess of the windshield because of evaporation on hot days.

One other point,
My mother had a 76 Mercury Monarch Ghia bought new and was a smoker. Years later my wife and I inherited it from my sister, who also smoked.
That car was still in very good condition when we got it but all the interior plastics had that tacky feel some have spoken of. I always figured it was the tar in the smoke?
Could some, not all, of these current complaints be related to cigarette smoke?

Do you park it in the sun all of the time? I don’t like the material as it scratches really easily. That looks like sun damage.

That is not sun UV or heat damage.

Non-smoker with a tacky dash in the heat.

Until the OP posts again, I think we all have answered the OP's question.

We haven't had that problem.

Talk to Dodge Ram owners about cracked dashboards.
I owned a 2002 with similar results.

I really like my dash cover.

I checked underneath it when I saw this post. Other than lint that was stuck when I put the cover on. All is well.

Just out of curiosity, who makes your dash cover and where did you get it?
Looks awesome and thick.

Disregard the does not fit Maverick warning.
It is shipped rolled up. I unrolled it on a flat surface covered it with a 100% cotton flour sack towel and steamed it flat. If you use a traditional steam iron without using a cotton towel over it you run the risk of scorching or melting it.

In comparison vinyl floor mfr warn of using rubber based floor mats.

i just recently reorganize the garage so I can put the Mav inside. Texas sun/heat can be brutal.

Cutout in middle reminds of one of my favorite albums.

I have enough Labrador Retriever hair on my dash that it qualifies as a dash mat. 🤣

OP literally created an account at 11am, thought a few hours about posting, posted at 6:30pm, and then walked away after 9pm after seeing the first few comments. 🤣

I'm guessing they probably also bring a bag of hair to a restaurant to try and get a free meal. They wanted attention and they got it.
