I know recalls themselves are free obviously, but I'd imagine if you want the convenience of a tech coming out to your home, or workplace to do things like software recalls, I'd imagine you'd have to pay for that. Is that correct?

It should be free. I know of several members who have had it done and no one mentioned any payment made.

Mine was free.

Local dealership offered the mobile service (I learned they don't have to), and was able to do 1 recall (possible turn signal lamp failure - Recall 23C41).
Took like 20 minutes, quick.

Still have 6 open recalls (1 with no fix), that apparently require vehicle at dealership.
No loaners from that dealership, so those recalls are not going to get done.
The dealership can do them when I trade it in sometime in the far future (or a loaner is made available and I will take it in).

From what I have heard, dealerships who do mobile service need to perform a certain number of appointments per month to remain eligible to perform mobile service work. I think it has something to do with the financing or coverage of the Ford Transit Vans they outfit for mobile service work. So it is a win/win for both the customer and the dealership if mobile service is available. Due to that, I don't think they would risk lower customer use by having higher fees for mobile service.

But separate from that, I can confirm that recall work is always "free", either via mobile service or by taking your truck in to the dealership.

My dealer prefers to do mobile service and even prefers to do pickup and delivery. They earn some benefit from Ford, but charge me nothing. They said every one they get "helps their metrics" with Ford.
I let them do it to my vehicles (except the Transit RV) to help them, as they are a good dealership to me.

Yeah, this is what I was talking about. There are some metrics or "tracking" of mobile service by Ford Corporate. Dealers that do Mobile Service seem to like doing Mobile Service. There is some sort of benefit to them.

Had 2 done and the are Free. The dealership called me to schedule before I got a notice to have it done. Worked out great with no issues. 👍

They are free at my dealer. It was explained to me that it not only a nice convenience for the vehicle owner, but doing it by mobile saves use of a maintenance bay at the dealer . They also can do mobile oil and filter changes, and some other light services.

I have had recalls and oil services from the Skalnek service department in Lake Orion, MI and always no extra charge for the mobile visit.

The dealer where I bought my truck apparently doesn't do mobile service they wanted me to leave my truck there for a week.
Called a different dealer and they came out the next day and did my BCM recalls for free.

Just had the BCM recall for the brake lights done last week by the mobile dealer service. They don't charge you and it takes about 20 min. I did the sync update myself with my cell phones wifi a couple of months ago so he just signed off that is was done to the vehicle.
