Bought a xlt without bed liner. During the negotiation process, they made it sound like they were going to get third party to do it. After the purchase, they say they are going to do it in house. Im like fine, ok but now they claim they don't have the parts and seem to be ghosting me. Luckily it's written in the contract but Im kinda worried that it's going to turn out badly if spray in is not something they usually do.

If they don't have the parts/materials, they can pay for it to go to a commercial bed liner company in the area. Either literally drive it there and have it done before they sell it to you, or credit you for the cost and then you go do it at your leisure. Most of the commercial bed liner companies have fairly standard pricing. Not like it will vary much.

Depends on whether they have good installers or not. My dealer is also a rhinoliner dealer. I had them do mine since bedliner was constrained at the time. They did a really nice job, VERY detail oriented and would not hesitate to use them again. They also took ford points as payment. :)

Unfortunately they took my money already and I got the car. I had to double check the contract and I think I paid around 750 for it. That's around the cost of line X, so I really shouldve just gone out and get it professionally done.

You took delivery of the truck with that on the invoice as a line item without it being there (the spray in liner)?

Only if you give up, which is what they want you to do. In my area, the Line-X dealer does a lot of work for many of the local dealerships. Have you done the Ford Survey yet? If not, that might get them to make good. Otherwise I bet you could get a lawyer to write a threatening letter for a few bucks. I would not actually take legal action as it would cost more than the SIBL. Good luck!

Ah right I see. Haven't done the survey yet. I really don't want to threaten legal action. Friend advise I should just go through small claim court. Should be simple and straight forward since it's a small amount. Hopefully I don't have to resort to that. But it really doesn't give me confidence when I ask for updates and there's just no reply or not answering the calls.

A bad survey costs the sales rep money. I’d make them aware you are about to do it and remind them they still owe you a SIBL. You could also take a look at their BBB rating. Some companies take those very seriously and try to resolve complaints. Small claims will be a waste of time even if you do win. Lawyers cost money for both parties. What’s a dealership going to do? Fight it or give you what is in the contract and what you paid for? Again, I would not pursue it beyond that, but that letter might get them off their a**.

I’d just show up at the dealership….get on their face and not leave until you get an appointment.

I had a similar situation to yours on that I paid for the spray in then took delivery cause I didn’t want to wait. It took a couple weeks to get the liner because the dealer was affected by those nationwide computer issues back in June.

LineX is their outsource installer and they did a magnificent job.

I'm in San Diego. The list of things to be done is referred to as a "Due Bill" and should list everything they promised. The SIBL application process is very messy and generates fumes. I think they send it out to either a Rhino or Line-X dealer.

We have the worst Ford dealers on the planet. If you don't get any movement with phone calls, write a "demand letter" to the general manager, usually the info can be found on their website, requesting the work be performed by a certain date or request a refund of the $750.

Mail TWO COPIES of the demand letter in two separate envelopes: One requiring a signature and one only with proof of mailing. If no luck:

Small claims in CA is simple, no attorney required.
In San Diego it is centralized downtown, 330 W. Broadway Rm 225.

FYI: I had the SIBL done on my '22 EB Lariat. I called a couple of Line-X dealers who quoted about $795, told them it was a small trucklet, told them FoMoCo charges $495, offered them $500 cash [five Ben Franklins] and the next day had a beautiful job.

Since I am in North County, I went to Line-X of Escondido. Showed- printed out - what FoMoCo charges and all was well.

If it were me and my money I would get Rhino Liner or Line-X. While they are not cheap I would not pay to have Fords spray in liner, look for videos on YouTube of removal and you'll see why.

Very few dealers do spray-in bedliners at the dealership. It's probably outsourced. By the way, what "parts" can't they get? There aren't any, AFAIK.

Yes it's on the due bill. I wasn't expecting them to do this. They really want to screw their new customer over such a small item. Bought mine from aaron ford poway. I haven't been able to hold of the person that sold me the car. When I text, he will reply say he will get back to me and never does. No answer if I call but he will answer if I withheld my number. First it's finance is working on it, now it's the service.

Can't believe you got the spray in for $500, that is awesome deal. They made it sound like they can a good dealer discount so I should go with them. It's really a pity because I love the truck and yet have had such a bad experience with them. I think it might be them that screwed me last time on a oil change for a different car. The works is like around 90 bucks and I signed for the quote. After it was done they said oh they made a mistake on pricing so it's over 150. I had to haggle it down.

Thanks for the advices, at least I know what I need to do if it comes down to that. Fingers cross I still give them the benefit of doubt but I'll start turning up to the dealership every day if they continue to mess me around.

This is why I think they are playing games. I wouldve thought if they really do in-house spray then they would already have the parts.
