My dealer has been calling me the past couple weeks wanting me to trade in my 22 XLT for a new 24 XLT, anyone have ideas why they would want me to do that? The dealer claimed it’s because they’ve noticed more people shopping in the used market but I feel like they wouldn’t be scooping up used 22 Mavericks if it wasn’t more lucrative for them than selling a brand new one. She offered similar payments to what I make now, but the whole deal sounds a little sketchy..
I know when I built the truck in 22 I chose a combination of packages/features that I know Ford no longer offers, not that my build is super special, but I think it’s unique in terms of other XLT builds that are out there. Any insight, advice or info is appreciated, thanks everyone!

Car dealers objective is to make money, they are looking to profit from a market that is still not saturated with Mavericks. People are still ordering 24 models since there is still a huge demand.

The markup on used is always much higher than new, especially since most customers wont accept paying over MSRP. They will win in two ways if you trade up to a 24.

1. They will resell your 22 for a good profit.
2. They will get a 24 out of their inventory (that they are paying interest on) and it will help them with allocations for future Mavericks.

I love my 22 and have had zero issues with it, considering some of the nightmare stories I’ve read on here I don’t think I would want to gamble on getting another brand new one that may or may not end up with more issues. I told them I’d need a pretty lucrative offer to give it up, not just a comparable payment lol and after comparing the 22 to 24, it doesn’t seem like they modified much aside from what’s included in the build packages - anyone notice any big differences between the two? I thought they got rid of the little cubby and extended the screen in the 24’s but I haven’t been able to find any XLT with pictures that show that.

Dealers always try to get you to trade in or upgrade to get stock out while giving you a BS value of your car. - all part of the sneaky car business.

No . the screen is bigger on the 25s .you would lose the key pad for sure unless it is added to the 24 as a battery operated pad instead of wired like your 22 . Maybe your payment would be the same for a long-term because 24s are about $5 k more than your 22 .

The payment may be the same, but the term is probably extended to account for the value difference. You may want to ask about that, specifically.

They already made money by selling you the 22. If they can get you to trade it in, they will make a profit on selling your 22 trade in and selling the 24 to you. Its a win win for them. Plus they are probably trying to sell off all their 24s before the 25s start arriving. If you are happy with the 22 I wouldn't do it. If there are options available in the 24 that you want, but couldn't get in the 22 and hate the look of the 25 it might be worth it to you.

I believe the screen got bigger in 25.
You ordered your Maverick the way you wanted it. Why except something else?
It seems you have already made your mind up.

I just got a 24 Maverick Hybrid Lariet.....love it! Cheaper than the Telluride I had, payment, insurance and mpg....saving about 200 a month at least. I did pay MSRP but they are putting on a tonneau-folded cover, larger mud flaps and black out Maverick lettering.

They want to sell you a new car every year, every month or every day. And a trade gives them 2 chances to profit from you. You are their profit center, that's the reason.

Pure money making motivation. Dealer fees, financing fees, profit on selling your low-ball trade in value, profit on the '24, plus they probably push extended warranty (more profit). You get the idea. IMO, Keep your '22.

I have a 2022 Lariat and the MAIN reason why I wouldn't trade up is the amount of time, money and effort I spent modifying my Maverick to make it uniquely mine in terms of comfort, convenience, looks, and safety. Do not want to go down that path so soon again. Your situation is undoubtedly different, but might be something you would want to consider. Best of luck.
